It works and fixed the problem of over making the ice. What else can you say? Perfect!

Have you been having issues with over making ice? Cleaned your ice machine a million times and nothing works? This did the trick and way super easy to install. I didn't order the super cheap one because reviews say it was a waste of money. This one says Whirlpool and hopefully it lasts longer than the one that came in my machine.

So I have a Whirlpool ice machine WUI75X15HZ00 that would not stop making ice to the point of overflowing the bin. I suspected the thermistor as that controls when it stops by sending a resistance to the mother board that varies with temperature. When the ice reaches the “full†level in the bin it contacts the thermistor. So I pulled the original one and measured the resistance with it submerged in a cup of ice and it was around 7.7k ohms. I read somewhere that it should read 8.7k at 32F. So I ordered the new one. Sure enough side by side the new one read 8.5k submerged in the ice and the old one gave me 7.7k again. Well the tolerance in the firmware must be such that the 7.7k isn’t enough but the 8.5k is enough. I installed the new one and it is working like a charm!!! Hope this long explanation helps someone else!!!

Fit and worked perfectly. There are cheaper options, but I'd stick with OEM on a part like this one.

Unplugged old one to wipe down and reinstall during a cleaning and it stopped sensing ice. This worked out the box as a perfect replacement. Although frustrated it was necessary, it worked well

I liked that it worked. I purchased an imitation one that failed after a week. It is a bit pricey for the content but it does work.

This sensor is identical to the original one on our 5-year old Whirlpool under-counter ice maker. Replacing the original sensor took barely 2 minutes and fixed the problem of ice continuing to be made after the bin was full. Replacing the sensor requires using a 1/4th inch socket wrench or driver. That and a T20 Torx driver is about all the tools needed to maintain these ice makers including changing the cutting grid wire and cleaning the air intake behind the trim panel at the bottom of the unit. I keep these two tools in a drawer near the icemaker.
