Cedar grilling planks are famous for pairing perfectly with salmon - but there's a wood variety to go with every type of protein! We love beef on Hickory, chicken on Cherry and pork on Maple planks.

Planking: 5 Easy Steps

  1. Place seasoned food on the plank. The plank should be fully covered by the food. This helps avoid flare-ups.
  2. Position the grilling plank directly on the preheated grill grates or in the center of your oven, ensuring it rests securely. Close the grill lid or oven door to maintain consistent heat and infuse the food with the plank’s aromatic flavors. Always stay nearby during cooking, as leaving the plank unattended could pose a fire risk. Keep a spray bottle filled with water within arm’s reach to quickly extinguish any unexpected flame-ups and ensure a safe cooking experience.
  3. Cook food as desired. Cooking times will vary. Discard the plank after use.
  4. Serve and enjoy! For beautiful presentation, serve your food directly on the plank. Just make sure the charred bottom doesn’t dirty your grandmother’s linen tablecloth.

Please follow all instructions carefully when using grilling planks. Failure to do so may result in the planks catching fire. Always soak the planks thoroughly (we recommend at least 15 minutes) before use, monitor them closely during cooking, and never leave the grill unattended. I ordered these planks specifically because they're smaller and perfect for a single fish steak. No idea why it's so hard to find this size plank - they take up less room on the grill and make for a great presentation! When the planks arrived I was concerned that they're thinner than others I've used, but they smelled great and were sanded on the grilling surfaces. After my first use...love, love love! I soaked the planks in lemon beer for an hour and then placed an ahi steak, rosemary sprig and lemon slice on each plank. To say the smell while grilling was divine is an understatement, and the mild cedar flavor in the fish was perfection! The thinner boards seem to have helped infuse the fish with the flavor more quickly than thicker planks. And, my regular planks in this size from Target cost about $3 each, when I can find them...these are roughy 55 cents each!! If you're okay with smaller planks, these are perfect!

These planks are much thinner than the larger ones but they seem to work just as well on the grill on super hot coals grilling salmon. Don't be alarmed with the price. They are a good value.

No hint of a cedar smell. Warped wood that doesn’t lay flat. Split pieces. Not worth it!

Have 42 planks remaining with 14 having holes/knots. Using these for cooking fish. Lots of burning due to knots.

Why anyone would buy a pack of 4 or 6 when for a few $ more you gets 6 months worth. Yes, smaller, so cut fish or meat in half & they work fine. Smell heavenly when you put on, food tastes great after.
