Works nicely to hold trash bin closed on windy days. Would work equally well to prevent animals from accessing bin. Easy to place trash in bins without having to remove completely. Very satisfied with purchase.UPDATE: While still glad I bot these, you should be aware that exposure to weather will affect performance. I live in the New Mexico desert. It’s mostly dry but extreme temps in both summer & winter are common. My cans aren’t covered so the sun beats down on them most days. This has resulted in the strap losing its elasticity after just 4-5 months. Not the product’s fault. If you use them in an area less exposed to sun & temps, they’ll last longer!UPDATE 2: Have had themA total of 9 months & both have lost their elasticity. Good concept, but seems they should last longer even in extreme weather conditions. May look for alternative materials.

These trash can straps prevent the raccoons from tearing through my garbage. Previously, I tried clamps, but the raccoons pulled them off and tossed them aside. Next, I tried weights, but those well-fed raccoons had the strength to just push them away. These straps finally kept them out and are easy to apply. I highly recommend this product!

I recently purchased the Windyun 4 Pieces Trash Can Lid Lock, hoping it would provide a reliable solution to keep bears and other wildlife out of my garbage. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing.While the adjustable strap is relatively easy to install and does keep the lid secured under normal conditions, it hasn’t proven effective against bears. I live in an area where bear encounters are common, and despite my best efforts to tighten the straps, I found that bears could still access my trash with little effort. This was quite frustrating, as my primary reason for purchasing the product was to prevent wildlife from getting into my garbage.Additionally, I’ve noticed that during strong winds, the strap tends to loosen, which undermines its effectiveness. I’ve had to readjust it multiple times, and when I do, I worry that it won’t hold up against curious animals. This has made me question its overall reliability, especially in a high-wildlife area.I appreciate the concept behind the product and the effort to create a bear-proof solution, but it simply hasn’t delivered on its promises. If you live in an area with serious wildlife concerns, I would recommend exploring more robust options for securing your trash. Overall, I can’t say I would recommend the Windyun Trash Can Lid Lock based on my experience.

After looking at a lot of styles of these I decided to go with this one. Unfortunately it was small for my trash can. There were no instructions and you would think it would be a simple install. I'm not sure about other trash cans but on mine the hinged part cannot be taken apart. So I unthreaded the clasp and put it on that way. But once I did that it was too small to be able to stretch to the metal bar. I'm relatively smart but thought I must be missing something. I don't know. In the end I ended up tying a rope around the clasp and then it could stretch enough to get to the metal bar.

There are no directions but you’ll figure out how it latches depending on your style of can. Perfect for 96 gallon can!! No more animals in your trash!!

I bought these to keep animals out of our trash cans, and initially the straps seemed to work perfectly. It was diffucult to open the lids more than inch or two.After approximately a month, however, the straps have become much much looser (lids will easily open 8-10 inches, even after adjusting them as much as is possible to make things tighter) and we now have animals getting into the cans again. Disappointing.

This item keeps my trash can lid down very tight. The animals can push the can over, but the trash stays inside.
