I know this handle is meant for a much larger barn door.However, I made a leather handle that was pretty much the same design for my screen door.I bought this for the fact it is large enought to get your hand around, and easy to grab.The next reason, it has to be sturdy. Well, this is sturdy to the max.Next it should be easy to install. For holes, for screws. Pretty simple.The metal is mildly course feeling, but not rough enough to scratch you. It is after all meant for outdoor use on a sliding style barn door. Maybe even open outwards barn doors also.This is not deep enough for the door handle and or deadbolt lock to hit the handle.Totally recommend this for this type of use.Excellent value for the money.
