The brush it self it's amazing, holds water very well, nice long strokes, the hair is very good quality, but the only down side it's the packaging, it came in a plastic bag, a box would be nice, it didn't broke thankfully, but very poorly packed for such a nice brush and amazing brand

I use these to apply a shellac finish to my projects. They hold a lot of material and apply the shellac easily. They don’t leave brush marks either. They look to be hand made. Very nice. The bristles are soft and the brush feels good in the hand when applying finish.I now have 1”, 1.5” and 2” hake brushes. I’m very glad I bought these.

These are absolutely wonderful Brushes! If your using them correctly! These types of brushes are “KNOWN FOR” creating washes, and or, spreading a lot of paint around on a “LARGE AREA OR SPACE” you “DO NOT” use these to paint fine details, as I’ve already said these are absolutely perfect for use in washes, or to cover a lot of area in a short amount of time…I’m starting to believe these negative reviews are from people that don’t know what Hake brushes are really used for? Even if a brush loses a few hairs or (whatever is used in making ANY particular brush used in watercolor or acrylic paintings) it does happen! But does that mean you put down the maker or company of said brush because in your painting you experienced the loss of a few hairs? Come on People! That’s life! It happens! For Gods sake! get a clue, nothing and nobody is PERFECT! Only God is Perfect, quit leaving bad reviews over (1) bad experience! That really wasn’t that bad at all! Grow up! Great Company! Wonderful Products! Are they perfect? Of course not!Sometimes mistakes are made…quality control can miss something, it gets Thru, it gets sold to a painter or Artist, so what do you do? Shoot them ? Curse them? Give a Bad review? (4th choice) Or do you text the company with a picture of the brush your unhappy with and give them a chance to make it right? I say the 4th choice is the right choice!Respectfully Yours,Stephen JeffriesMentor, Ohio

Nothing bad to say, does the job. A little expensive?

Perfect size for small works. This is my first dry wash practice…I used the brush to pick up the bead and was surprised at how much paint it picked up.

Purchased for fine details in watercolor. Worked just fine for a bit and now it won't hold a tip. Hairs are frayed out to the side. I'm sure I'll find some other used for the brush, just not what I was hoping for.

This is a decent Hake brush, the bristles don't fall out anymore or less than other hakes. The brush is a little on the loose side from the handle but that's not the real issue. THIS BRUSH SMELLS HORRIBLE. I don't know if it is the goat hair or the processing but the brush reeks and when wet it is even worse. It is so bad that this brush is useless to me.

Great brush. Good buy. Not sure what all of the negative reviews are about!! or how people abuse their brushes, but I found this brush to be great. I’m creating nice large wet washes, smooth blends, great texture and dry brush effects. Some bristle loss nothing major (maybe one or two fallout during my entire painting session). No more Loss than any other WN or Princeton or king art gold brush. For the price this brush performs great. Maybe if you buy a $52 brush it may work better. But if you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank Its a good option. I’m using for watercolor.I also take care with my brushes and wash gently and dry after each session. **Also lay FLAT To dry people!**** Otherwise water will creep down Into the glue of the ferrule and ruin brush! All in all very pleased.

A useful brush for washes, holds lots of water and paint and has not shed any hairs so far. Good value at the price, especially from a household name like Winsor & Newton.
