I've recently started oil painting. My teacher had a list of colors for us to buy, which I did. That gave me a basic but limited number of colors to use for blending etc. This kit gives me TWENTY new colors, in small tubes, which is great because I won't use them up that fast anyway. It's the very good quality Winsor & Newton brand and I'm just tickled pink with them and recommend the set to anyone, new or not to oil painting.

This set is good quality for a starter set. It like having the size for the convenience colors I do not use as my ch of. They blend easily and dry like my higher priced paint tubes. O haven’t noticed a smell - they smell like all my other paints.

Pretty good size for a kit. Consistency is really nice, but being oil, doesn’t blend too well on the canvas. That’s with any oil paint. I didn’t notice any smell. This is great quality paint that you can really enjoy.

They take 1-2 days to dry and you can't paint acrylic over them, because that's how they're DESIGNED to work. You should also use them in a room with a window open. These reviews are ignorant...If you know how oils work already, then you won't be displeased with the consistency, drying time, lightfastness, etc.For those that "get it" :There's 7 transparent glazes; the rest are opaque. There are no semi-transparent paints.I would use a mixing knife to recombine the pigments because they can be a bit separated on arrival, but they're great student grade linseed-based oils.

Great addition to my art supply. Much cheaper than art stores around and the same product. Great paint quality as well.

So, these are Windsor and Newton Wintons, official packaging, sealed, and everything checks out. W&N is a known brand, known entity... they ARE good. There's no real need for me to paint with these in a review to show you that they are good, the only thing is whether they are authentic or not. These are absolutely authentic!Winton level are a more mid-ranged level for oils, W&N say they are a student's brand but they easily compete with other more expensive lines. W&N's artist oils are far superior in terms of pigment concentration and size, but these are perfectly fine.
