This will not fit thick strings at all. I have other fine tuners of this brand and they work great. That's why the 3 stars for I thought by reading the description, it would be compatible. I will have to research which ones are the correct ones for my Viola strings. So research before you buy. Dissapointed.

I saw the other reviewer say the same thing but I took my chances. The gap where the string is supposed to be inserted is way too narrow for viola strings (I use Dominant brand strings). I managed to wedge the gap apart with a driver and made it work for A and D strings, but will probably just take them out when I have to replace the strings because I'd have to modify them again to remove and insert new strings. I feel like I'd damage the fine tuners at that point.
