I purchased a size up after reading many of the reviews and I am glad I did. The elastic waistband runs small. I wear a size 6/8 pants and ordered an XL. They fit my natural waist well and do have a lot of stretch if needed but the elastic is about 1 in wide which could roll if stretch too much.I like the length of the undershorts and they fit nicely, not tight around the leg and don't ride up. The side pocket is easily accessed and the outer shorts are wide for the size. The shorts are a very nice muted red color and I will be purchasing more!

Medium fits me well- both at my usual 5'11," 165lb size and my (long story, illness related) current weight of 152lbs. I grabbed up these shorts for a cooler alternative to my 5" bicycle shorts for running. I love bike shorts, but by virtue of the 5" inseam and tightness, they can be quite hot to run in in 80+ degree weather. I have several pairs of regular dolphin-hem running shorts, but I a) hate the liners and b) hate that they don't have a pocket for my phone.I like the length of these and they are soft and comfortable with no weird seams. The inner liner could be made of a bit stronger, stretchier fabric- I was hoping for the sturdy 4-way stretch fabric you find in workout leggings and normal bicycle shorts, just in a much shorter inseam, but instead it's significantly lighter and and looser. The phone pocket is a bit shallow, too- it holds my Samsung Galaxy s9+ with only a little bit of the phone sticking out, but the combination of light-weight fabric and slightly shallow pocket combine to make a pocket that couldn't handle holding my phone during a run. It works for a walk, but at higher speed the phone bounces in the pocket, which is both irritating and makes me feel like my phone is going to bounce right out. In fairness, the liner does fit and does work for modesty- I can happily sprawl on the grass or whatever with no stress about my underwear showing.Overall, I do like the shorts and will wear them for walks or just hanging out around the house (might work well for folks who want a cute lightweight short to wear over a swimsuit, too), but they won't be slotting into my running routine on hot days, which is what I bought them for. Seeing as they don't meet the higher technical requirements for workout gear, I wouldn't pay $27 dollars for them again. Would call them a good deal at about $15.

I like the style of the shorts, with the compression up top and around the thighs but then the loose fabric on top. But I bought these for the phone pocket, and my phone went flying out of the pocket at the start of my run and cracked

I was looking for a fitness short that I could fit my cell phone in comfortably, too, while on long bike rides and hikes. I am 5' 3", 125 pounds 30" waist, 35" hips, and am an ex-gymnast, muscular build. The medium fits well and the waistband is comfortable and doesn't leave elastic marks on the skin. I decided to try the large and the difference is that while it still rides up in the inner thigh, it is not to the degree which the medium do so. I would probably be best between a medium and large, but I'm keeping them both. The large is looser in the leg, but not loose by any means, and the outside shorts are a bit poofier, but not noticeably. I usually wear size 6 in shorts/pants. I would rec. the size medium if you are built similarly to me or weigh a little less and the large, the same if you weight a bit more and are looking for more comfort. They are flattering, not puffy in the hips in either size for my build, even though that was not the most important thing to me, it's a bonus.

I like that the inner shorts has a yoga pants feel. I can put my phone in the pocket and it stays put through my run. The small zipper pocket at the low back was handy for my id and credit card. I would like for another pocket for the left leg.

These shorts are great for running! I am 5ft and 116lbs and ordered a size small. they fit perfectly and even help my iPhone 13 Max in the pocket!

The bottom spandex layer is soft and comfortable, but the top layer fits small and sits tight. The top layer of fabric does not sit nicely like shown in the photo.
