I read the reviews before purchasing. I am please to say that the wood is sturdy and strong. It stacks well without the pegs. The eggs (including jumbo eggs) fit well and do not crowd each other. There is plenty of space for the eggs. I am pleased with the solid quality look of the wood. I am glad I kept looking for more egg stands and found this one.

I love eggs, I eat them religiously every day. I saw these holders and wanted them immediately because of the rustic wood look. They are substantial with the wood measuring approximately 3/4" thick but they are not super heavy. This is a set of 2 trays that can be connected, they sit perfectly one on top of the other and there are pegs that fit in pre-drilled holes to keep them firmly together. The eggs fit well in the cut outs so they will not be shifting around if they are average size. I really like the burnt effect on the wood, it creates beautiful patterns with the natural grain. This set was well packed and arrived in perfect condition with the exception of where the tape held all the packing material. You can see where the tape was and it left a sticky residue and has removed some of the finish. Other than that these are wonderful and very attractive.

If you have your own chickens of different varieties you might get a lot of different egg shapes and sizes like we do. The cups on this holder are deep enough to keep each egg stable regardless of size or shape. It holds a ton of eggs, it can be stacked or each one used individually. It comes with dowels to keep it stacked if you choose to use them. I have found that it fits together so well (see pic) that I haven't felt the need to use the dowels. The holder looks really nice too. I highly recommend.
