The picture looked better than the item. This box is much too small. Cannot keep any coins as they will fall out. Wood is not smooth or clean. Don't know why it has a hole in the center of the box. I should have checked. There were others that did not have this. Throwing it away as it serves no purpose and is an eyesore. It's what you call cheap and nasty. The picture is deceiving. It does not look at all like that.

I got this box specifically to see if I could load two new banded bundles of $2 bills in it as a gift for a graduating senior. Depth wise it's perfect for exactly two new and banded bundles of bills, but like other reviews have stated the width and height dimensions are very tight. There is a hole cut in the bottom of the floor of the box, so tight fitting bills can be physically pushed out from below with your finger. I don't think this box would make a great way to store bills that are in circulation, because wrinkled bills would be frustrating. Also it would be a hassle to retrieve bills from on a regular basis. It fit my purposes well for brand new bundled bills (200 total). Now lets talk about quality of craftsmanship, not the greatest. I found myself picking off left over manufacturing wood whiskers and the back of the box had a snag/sliver risk defect that was noticeable. Also the clasp is cheap, and installed slightly off center when compared to the horizontal aspect of the lid. I almost gave this product a 3 star instead of a 4 star rating, BUT it served my intended purposes perfectly. If the manufacturer would increase the inside dimensions (W x H) by 1/16" and take just a little more care with quality control, this could be a 5 star wooden bill storage box.

I was so excited to finally find a box that will hold money. As soon as I got it, I tried putting some money I had saved in the box. The standard U.S. Dollar bill does not fit in this box very well. You actually have to push the money down into the bottom. It's a smidge too small. I don't know why they wouldn't make this box just a tad bigger to fit bills comfortably. Then, once you get them in, even with the hole in the bottom, you have a terrible time getting your money out. If it's just a few bills it's not horrible, but if you put a stack of money in that thing you actually have to pull it out little bit at a time. The sides of the bills scrape the inside of the box making the fit too small. I will be looking for something else. Shame because the box itself is a nice box, just not for money.
