Very easy to install. Now my light comes on at dusk, and goes off at dawn. I no longer need to remember to turn it on or turn if off. Should save me money and electricity too. This has 3 wires, so you need a white wire too. Directions are very detailed.

I used this to replace the burned out sensor and controls in a large outdoor LED area light, by wiring this directly into the bulb socket. These type of sensors seem to be much more robust and tolerant of electrical surges or non-ideal voltage/frequency issues.

This little device has allowed me to leave the porch and garage lights "on" at the switch. Now, they come on at dusk and turn off at dawn. Installation was simple: I just used a hole saw in the body of the first light fixture in the string of three outside fixtures, inserted the control and tightened the nut. Wiring was also simple. When I applied power the control didn't seem to work when I covered the photocell. I found by experience that it does not react immediately to changes in light level. The design works well for the application: I was able to aim the photocell away from the lighted area to minimize the chance of accidental turn on / off. It's a great little device!

For starters, the first one of these I ordered was broken at the swivel. The sensor worked fine, but the swivel couldn't be tightened because the plastic was broken where the pivot screw head snugs down. Amazon efficiently replaced this with a working copy. This broken piece is an example of the cheap, brittle plastic Woods uses for this sensor. For me, the sensor is "set once and forget" and it's also on the shaded side of the house, so it ought to last awhile. But there's a similar option from Intermatic available for about 2x the price that I'm betting uses better materials.Because this is on the shady side of the house, I needed a photocell that I could aim skyward for accurate daylight detection. From that standpoint, this fits the bill. It functions fine (I'll update when it begins giving me trouble). and drives five fixtures using LED lights.

Installed on an existing outdoor hanging light fixture. I put it on the cover plate that the light hangs from, so the low profile screw attachment was great.Comes with a wiring diagram for those that need one. You do need some basic electrical experience, so leave it to the pros if you don't know what you are doing. One note, after you install it and apply power, it takes a few minutes for the thing to work the first time. Not sure why, but mine stayed on for about 10+ minutes before it shut off in the daylight. Thought it should have kicked off quicker and it concerned me at first. It has worked perfectly since.

Worked fine initially but here I am 6 months down the road and it's failed. As others note, I'll look for a different brand to replace it.

We had a 4 year old light sensor that was installed by the electrician who set up our exterior lighting, he placed a conduit running up through the flat roof with a junction box and a photo cell screwed into the top of it (this was an addition). Recently the old photocell (different model) was no longer turning off at night so we were using the switch in the utility room, and often forgetting to turn it back on before dusk. After a couple of weeks of manually running our lights I ordered and quickly received this device. The angle capability was not foremost on my mind but it was cheaper than the non-adjustable, so this one it was! With the power off, installation was a breeze since I was replacing an old photocell attached to the junction box. I was happier with this one because of the thicker gasket to produce a weather tight seal. I decided to aim it North since we have unobstructed views to in all directions (except East) that would have provided a lot of intense sun on the device and perhaps breakdown the eye with UV light over the years. The silver nut on the bottom of the pictured device was not needed for my particular installation since it went into an electrical box that was threaded, it would have been used in a non-threaded box to secure the device to the box.If I had wanted to articulate the aim, the screw on the side of the joint can be loosened to allow the angle to be adjusted then re-tightened.The front of the device has a small clip, I'm not sure as to the real purpose but I guess it is for holding a temporary shade over the photocell to test. You'd need to block the light for a minute or two to test as it doesn't suddenly go on at the first shadow (good since we don't want flicker).Replacing the old unit with this one was 15 minutes, including getting up and down the ladder to access the roof. As the sunset occurred I found it kicked in right about when I expected, not too early and not too late.

Traditional security lights have a built-in weakness in the time-lapsed photo sensor (2-3-5-10 minutes of light, then off) that usually lasts only a couple years. When the photo sensor / timer unit fails, people often discard the whole otherwise perfectly well working security light set. We rebuild them with this dusk-dawn sensor as we really don't like the new LED security lights and prefer an old fashioned, repairable aluminum light fixture. This photo sensor works well with LED light bulbs on E26 socket (the classic light bulb) and controls LED lights on/off well. This purchase is my second Woods photo sensor in 2022 and perhaps 10th + in the last couple years.

I used it to replace my old one. It works very well as it should. The price is right, will buy another one.

Works as intended, the 30 second time delay is a nice feature and keeps the lights on in the case of auto headlights. I am using the sensor to turn on lights behind an outdoor stained glass panel at night. Seems well built and designed. If you are testing it and your wiring keep in mind it willalways make it's contact and bring the lights on for 30 seconds when power is turned on to the sensor even in a bright light. It has another unintended benefit, in that it looks like a securitycamera.

Excelente producto, va muy bien con los focos led, algo lento en su funcionamiento, es decir tapas el sensor para probarlo y no se apaga de inmediato, a los pocos minutos corta la electricidad. Muy bueno
