This fit securely right onto my Porter-Cable wet/dry vac outlet. The kit comes with a couple adapters for different sized outlets, as well as an extra foam filter. The foam should help reduce any dust exiting the outlet, as well as helping to ever so slightly reduce noise volume.

I bought a shop vac from the flea market and it lacked this muffler/filter section. It shot out so much dust it'd make me gag.It no longer does that with this attachment, which is nice. I can now vacuum without making even more of a mess

This is a well made and seemingly sturdy unit. It may decrease noise a bit, but this is not why I got it. I need to use this vacuum indoors around house settings a lot. I wanted to cut down on the bit of particulate that still got past the cartridge filter. It does a perfect job of that and being a radial diffuser eliminates that direct exhaust blast that would also sometimes cause its own problems. Without included adaptor, it fits my 6 gallon Harbor Freight Bauer Shop Vacuum 1952E-B6 perfectly. It goes right into the taper nicely and stays there while in use. The latch is incompatable, but does not matter and is not in the way. Suction still seems good with the unit in place. The extra foam filter element was even in its own little plastic bag to keep it clean. I am pretty happy overall.

It’s not a ton but noticeably cut down the decibles from without. Also nice when working in a room to reduce the blowback from the exhaust. Using on my rigid shop vac. Was worth the purchase.
