plates are great screws don't fit in white plate just the silver one, however, they arent long enough for some applications.

We replaced all aging smoke detectors in our home with smaller 10y battery operated units. So the question of how to close up the gaping hole in the ceiling?? While our house appears to have a standard electrical box, none of the 2 hole plates at the local HW store worked.These plate covers account for small differences in electrical boxes, they look a bit better than the units from the HW store and I think I could paint them if we ever paint our ceilings again.We thought about drywall repair to the holes but that opens up an set of issues like what do do with the wiring or better yet the next home owner might want to go back to an AC connected unit.

I like that this clean-out cover plate kit has everything you need to cover a hole. All the parts are well made, and the screws are long enough to install the cover easily on up to a 3 ¾ inch hole.
