The overall product is really nice, however like some other customers, two of the inserts were cracked on the edge, which over time, will I am sure break. I ordered two sets of two planters, and one set was perfect, and the other was damaged. The company really needs to address this, maybe install foam blocking along the top edge to stop the insert from cracking during transit? The planters are really beautiful, albeit light weight and needed weight added, which I knew prior to ordering. I place a 60 lb bag of concrete at the bottom of each planter, then added the insert, which sat right on top of the bag of concrete. This will help keep the cracked insert from falling into the bottom of the planter, but I really should not have to add and compensate for shipping problems. A larger shipping box with foam around the top would solve the problem. I am keeping the damaged ones, but only because they are sitting on top of the concrete bags inside the planter and cannot go anywhere. I gave them four stars for this reason, but it is kind of sad because they really a nice planter if they would arrive undamaged.

I purchased this foam for an outdoor floral display. It is very dense and holds stems very securely. The description says it is reusable, so I'm looking forward to using it for my next display, as it is not cheap. I will definitely purchase this foam again when my current supply runs out.

I ordered this floral foam to make arrangements for a professional July 4th event. They got good reviews; I thought the premium price would pay off when the arrangements held up longer in well-hydrated foam. Imagine my delight on the afternoon of July 4th when I dropped them in a tub of water to absorb…… and they did NOTHING but FLOAT. Even when pushing them to submerge, which anyone who does floral arrangements knows you DO NOT DO with floral foam, they merely popped back to the surface. Amazing! (The round gray foam in the photo are the floating XCEL foam.) Next I tried to insert a rose stem (arguably one of the sturdier floral stems) in one of the foam blocks: Unpenetratable! Now where can one go on a national holiday to buy floral foam? Nowhere! Thank goodness I had exactly enough smaller blocks of floral foam left in my cabinet to make do for the event. And yes, they submerged immediately upon dropping them into the water. These XCEL floral foam blocks being sold here are useless!!! Absolute garbage, which is exactly where I threw them.

I used this heavy foam to complete some porch planters for my MIL and it worked beautifully. it is easy to work with and cut to size, so you always have the perfect fit for your project. I will absolutely be ordering this again!

Could not be used for intended purpose. Not as advertised. Merchant would not accept return and refunded on less than 1/5 of purchase price.Very costly mistake.
