I love using this when making work ! It works great and is pretty sharp. It can get a little hard to use if it’s closed before you need it and you have clay all over your hands: I’ve stuck my fingers quite a few times doing this.

This little thing is so convenient! I love how small it is, for narrower pieces it is really nice, but can also create some deep scores if needed. I think my only complaint is that when you push the needles out, because it’s rounded, the side needles might catch your finger if you’re holding it on the short sides versus the larger flat sides.

This is a great little tool. Mine is borrowed so many times in class I’ve bought a few more as gifts. It scores so well and so quickly, I can’t stand to use anything else. The little slide handle doesn’t get used much as the prongs get covered in clay, but still scratch well. I just toss it into my tool bucket prongs down and don’t use the closing feature. No rust. I’ve used mine for a few years now and it’s still great.

This tool is a quality tool for scoring clay in ceramics. I had some cheaper tools that kept breaking and the tines would fall off. I finally decided to order this tool and I am not disappointed. It makes scoring parts of the clay to connect with slip so much easier. I have not been disappointed with a Xiem tool purchase so far. I highly recommend. Sometimes you just need one good tool instead of several cheaply made tools.
