I think the 3v ones have slightly shorter wires or something. They pull about 6mw and supposedly output 5mw so I think they should be safe, but they are brighter than the other 5mw laser pointer I had. I'm more concerned about safety than brightness so I might add a resistor. None look damaged and I haven't tested all of them but the few I have seem to work great. Great deal for how many you get. Also very compact.

It's definitely not a perfect laser. I'm using it for small DIY projects so having some spare parts is always a huge plug.

Short leads are 3vLong leads are 5vNote that the pcb is pressed into the laser housing, which is 'supposed' to make contact with copper on each side of the board to complete the circuit. This is not necessarily a good way of doing this, as I had two not making good contact and thus not working until I soldered the pcb to the housing.Otherwise, a good product. Be careful of breaking off the wires from the pcb - they are unsupported. (hot glued or siliconed/epoxy etc.)

Great laser. I purchased more than one set. The Red laser is visible for at least 20 feet or more. The lasers are well made and reliable.

Happy with the price, even though my package was missing one (out of 40). As the wires are rather flimsy (30 AWG), I'm reinforcing them with heat shrink before my students use them.

Working great used 5 so far and tested them constantly on for 36 hours.. all working fine

They all came in the same box there's no clear indication which is 5v which is 3v. Only difference is half of them have black resistors and the other half with white resistors. The resistors, either black/white, are all 91ohm. The black version measured slightly higher forward voltage of 2.5v. White version 2.3v. With both of them running at 5v. So I'm not sure they are that much different.Both ran at 5v overnight without any issues.Also the lens cap is threaded and adjustable but initially fixed with a little bit of glue.

As found by others: 91 ohm resistor = 5v (long leads.) 33 ohm resistor = 3v (short leads.) Colour of resistor doesn't matter. Upside down is white. To other reviewers: thanks for pointing that out. No thanks to the seller.

The box only has 3 volts include (40pcs). The title of this product indicates there's 20 pcs of 3v and 20 pcs of 5v. Moreover, in the product description there are diode with two different lengths, indicating there are 25 pcs of long, and 25 pcs of shorter ones which I assume means the longer ones are supposed to be 5v but it should be 50 items?I test one with a 3.7 battery (voltage divided to 3.3v) and it works but as other reviewers mentioned it's a shame that the wrong item is sent.

Nice assortment. A little confusing to find the right ones. They are all mixed in a case and the wire sized is extremely small.
