This sub punches way above its price point. Since its Yamaha, the design and build quality is wonderful. The sound is expansive, tight and never overstated. A real find for those looking for a sub in this price range.

It's an OK subwoofer for one of my smaller rooms to setup a 5.1 system.The frequency response is pretty flat till 30Hz. It provided enough power to fill the room and rattle floor a little.Opened and suppriesly found there was no sound absorbing padding at all. Given the power level the box does not have much vibrations or resonating which is another surprise. Will add some isolation materials late.Opened front cover, the speaker has just a usual paper cone. The pins were glued to the box. To take cover off need a little force. Be careful not to break it.Overall, the response curve is pretty flat. I used apps Frequency Generator and Spectroid to do a rough test.One thing, there is no auto on/off. I use a wifi AC plug to turn it on/off.

I am happy with my Yahmaha Sub..; The sound is not distorted when I pump-up the valume; ( I don't exceed the valume of course, too high vol will distort any spearkers, specially inside a room)It sound great!

Bought this to connect to a Bluesound Pulse Soundbar+. It really rounded out the sound. I was looking for simple, basically plug & play, and this unit fit the bill. Several reviews talk about no crossover, which is not an issue for me, as the Pulse+ has a built-in crossover at 80Hz. And the other thing that was a "knock" was no auto shut off, again, not an issue, soundbar is connected to the eARC port and shuts off and no single is being sent to the sub.As far as the sub, it absolutely does the job. Huge sound out of this unit, I have is set to around 3 (out of 10), anything higher rattles the room. I have some tweaks I can make on the soundbar's app (BluOs), but this really took a great soundbar and made it that much better. You won't be disappointed with this sub for a smaller to mid-size space.

Bass is very deep. Before purchasing it, I was using taga harmony 506 v2 speakers. Even that has very good bass and I am sure that the amount of bass it delivers is enough for majority of the people. All I needed was a boost.So, I began to play some movies. I started with some ordinary drama movies, but didn't find any difference, it seemed that my taga was enough. Disappointed, I ran mad max fury road. I knew this is the movie that could really test my woofer. All on a sudden, there was a huge blast of sound and everything changed. The beating of drums and the purr of blazing cars brought the cinematic effects that I badly needed. I could feel the bass. You know bass is sweet when it's not heard, but felt.In my small room, keeping the volume at 40% was enough. Like all other subwoofers, this one needs to have a decent bass encoded in the source material. Only then, it will sound pleasant. If the content does not have any good amount of lower frequency sounds, you still can expect some bass from it by increasing the volume. The thing is that it won't be very pleasant to hear. I felt that this subwoofer is better for movies than music, don't know why. Probably my taga harmony speakers added to the cinematic experience while playing movies with multi channel audio.To get the best of it, you need to go to the settings of your receiver and set all the speekers to 'low'. Sometimes proper positioning of the subwoofer is needed to get the most out of it.Lastly, the product is quite heavy and well built. What I am using now is actually a replacement product, the first one sent was damaged at some corners, also the packaging was poor. The replacement is a new one with invoice and warranty card and now the packaging was also good. Surprisingly there was a tag with the word 'custompack' on it.Although at first impressions, the product seems to be well built with great audio quality, I'm a bit apprehensive about its long-term reliability given my past experience with yamaha products. Fortunately, yamaha authorized service centers are to be found in almost all major cities.Although this is a budget category product, but I feel the price could have been a bit lower. Still, regarding performance, there's nothing to complain, performance wise it's a genuine 5 star.
