Our son has been using a mouthpiece from the school that really was not a tuba mouthpiece. It was never where he was, making practicing at home difficult or playing at school impossible when it was left home. Since he seemed serious about playing we tried to research and hoped the Yamaha (current tuba he's renting) would work and guessed at the size.There is a great improvement in his sound although he's getting used to the larger size. The band director and others have noticed an improvement and practicing is easier since he likes the sound of the instrument so much better.It was a great value and with his braces, the larger size might end up more comfortable. We'd recommend this mouthpiece.
