This works well for getting small drills started in the right place. The 90 degree point makes it pretty easy to accurately start a hole on a scribe line. I use this with a drill press for drilling in aluminum, so I'm not sure how well it would work/last with harder materials.Update: I ended up replacing this with a cobalt name brand bit (Morse} because it slowly got dull. These dont work well even if they are little dull.

A 90deg is a deep angle. According to McMaster the starter angle should be a tad bigger than drill bit angle. Anyways, this 90 for me has limited use.

I didn't get what I ordered! I ordered a spotting drill as described by Amazon but what I got instead was a carbide end mill. Good thing I can use the end mill. Did Amazon know that I needed end mills also Guess I will try ordering again and see if they can get it right on the second try.

These wouldn't touch stainless due to the chisel point being too wide. They would just harden up a spot and jump off to the side. I ground in a split and now they're OK. They're probably fine for steel or aluminum if you're into that.
