  • This socket has been designed to remove and install the left and right fuel pump retaining nuts (also called lock rings) on all late model Volvos without dropping the fuel tank.
  • The retaining nut can be locked in place requiring a fair amount of force to release and the plastic retaining nuts are easily broken when improper tools are used.

Function:

  1. A Specialty Tool for fuel pump service.
  2. This tool has a Lower profile, you can get in that tight space without removing all the other stuff like using the factory tool.
  3. Providing a fair amount of torque. (Used with a 1/2” drive extension and ratchet.)
  4. Engage perfectly with all the tabs will not brake the tabs and possibly the retaining rings.

I bought it to remove the fuel pump in a Volvo S60r 2.5T. Perfect fit and 1/3 of the price from a Volvo parts source. Retainer came tight off with gentle pressure.This is second fuel pump I replaced (prior an older volvo). The plastic retainer rings are often brittle and hard to get loose. In the first replacement, I tried ring removal without this tool and broke the retainer ring. Had to wait for a replacement retainer ring (and $20+)

Not much to say about this other than it works perfectly. Feels very sturdy, will certainly last you forever. Opening is for a 3/8 ratchet. Alignment was more than adequate for the pump/level sensor on my 2006 XC90 (with third row seating). It's slender enough to fit under obstructions. In my opinion, well worth every penny, even if you'll only use it once. I have a few Volvos so it may be useful again and am keeping it.

Made of aluminum and has nice welds and powder coating. Most likely won’t use much but great to have to make the job quick and easy.

It is not welded on the inside. If it break’s as stated in other review’s then I will update this one. If anything, I can use this to fabricate a better one out of steel as opposed to aluminum. Price wasn’t bad at $20 CAD.
