I use mine for keeping raccoons away from my chickens,vegetables, and grape vines and for keeping my goat from climbing on his fence. It works well. Both of my dogs found the fence wire around the grapes at different times and felt trapped. One was small enough that I could carry him out; the other I had to turn off the fence and lower the wires so that she felt safe enough to come over the fence. This is the third one I've bought for use in different places.

This was extremely easy to install (even I could do it). Grounding rods are about halfway in the ground, and just twisted the run on to the hot wire. Accidentally touched it, and it is really strong. Should definitely keep my pigs in and other animals out.

This review is for the Zareba EAC25M-Z. I usually wait about 2 months before I leave a review to make sure I have had a chance to use the item. In this case I was leaving a review for a charger I just returned from another company that stopped working and was so pleased with this one that I thought I would just go ahead and leave a review based on how happy I am. I was never very happy with the last energizer I had, and it stopped working after 17 days. I ordered this on Amazon, and it arrived the next day. This is a bit of an overkill for my garden electric fence, but I didn't want to take chances any longer with the animals. The readings on my tester are up there just where they are supposed to be and when I use the blade of grass test my hand jumps almost right away where my previous charger made me question its effectiveness. The click of the power is distinctive if you are close. The light on the unit isn't very bright. I was out in the darkness and couldn't tell if the light was on one time. I don't really care about the light as long as I can hear a click. I am very happy with the power of this unit and very glad I bought this charger!

I bought this to replace a Premier One charger and man does this thing zap. My sheep and goats just straight up in the air when this thing hits them. It’s on a fence that’s running through weeds and I honestly feel bad for the grass because you can hear hour aggressive the ‘snaps’ are when this thing is energized.

This 25 mile 1 output joule electric fence charger is surprisingly strong. Even when the grass has grown up and shorting out a bit it is still strong. Tested it in the rain with wet clothes(I do not recommend lol) and it will definitely deter the moose, bears and deer away from my fruit trees.

Use this to secure my chicken run, it is powerful enough to keep anything out so far, I wouldn't think even a bear would make a second attempt if he got this snap on his nose!Update: I installed this fence in winter when I wore rubber insulated boots. When I touched the fence it didn't feel great but I figured with my boots off it would easily keep out raccoons. Now it's summer and I accidentally touched the fence wearing regular boots and it almost knocked me over ! That is very very powerful and I have absolutely zero doubts the fence is strong enough to prevent ANYTHING from attempting to breach my fence. If you have this, fair warning! My finger where the connection happened hurt for hours!

I decided to go with the 1 joule charger to stop deer from destroying my apple trees. After setting up my fence my trees have suffered no damage from deer. Works great and I will be able to expand my fence as I require for virtually no extra cost.
