This was much better looking and easier to install than traditional means. Seems to fit more sturdy than my last set of handrails in my house. Will update performance if it changes in the future.

I was skeptical on how well it would work, followed instructions and got a solid connection. I'll certainly look to this for my next challenging connection project.

Compared to traditional rail bolts these are much simpler to use. I had 12 railings to install so I used a combo of all the zipbolt products. These and the angled ones where my favorite for easiest to use. You don't have to be as exact with these ones as the angled railbolt. The drive bit does work, but can be a real pain to get it to catch especially if you weren't 100% accurate on your drilling into the rail. I used a flexible drill bit attachment in my drill to make the angle manageable. Once it catches it snugs up easily. Probably still easier than using a traditional 1/2" rail bolt wrench.

Makes anchoring oak stair rails and post together a whole heck of a lot easier and faster. I very much recommend and will be using them from now on on all my stair projects

Would easily be a 5 star but went through 3 of these and gave up. The threads easily strip. I am not using an electric driver, just a wrench. Leaves the handrail loose.

Is it common knowledge to turn the screw the opposite way with these kinds of bolts!? I didn’t know! No wonder people strip these guys. Righty loosey, lefty tighty. It took all day to install my small railing, but this product worked for both the upper and lower attachment. I went slow and read all the instructions many times. I did not buy the drill guide, I just used a Forster drill bit, tape measure, and speed square.I also cut the angle on my railing before I got this (it says in big bold letters not to), so I taped on a leftover piece of railing to square off the end to get my measurements right.Note that if you use it for the lower baluster attachment, you ADD 3mm instead of subtract for the end of step 2. I need my railing to be removable which is why I used this for top and bottom.

In theory these are great! In reality no so much. Came across these on youtube and ordered them here on amazon.Measuring and drilling was simple. Although i would not follow the directions exactly. I would honestly move the 1" hole 1/4" closer to the end of the rail. The angled bolt and hook plate design is fantastic and works extremely well. The gear driven nut it where this item FAILS. The gear driven nut is HORRIBLE. It is a total pain to get caught, it binds then trying to tighten and i was afraid to tighten it and then not be able to remove it again. I ended up throwing the nuts in the garbage. Being in a rush to finish up the railing for the holidays, i checked the threaded side with a thread gauge and calipers and looked to be a M6x0.75 thread. Got a couple nuts at fastenal. Surprise they didnt fit. Chased the threads with a M6x0.75 die and they spun right on. Used a washer and standard nut on the angled bolt and it works perfect! I wish they would sell just the angled bolt and hook plate s and throw the geared nuts in the trash!

Great way to secure railing, a bit tricky but works great when used correct!

I rarely write reviews. I'm a pretty handy guy. Built a few homes. Did all the trades. Built my own kitchen, and so on. I purchased this hardware with the intent to 'pay up' for a product that would make the project easier. This has certainly not been the case. I just have to say that this is a highly engineered product that is so tedious to use, you will wish you just secured your railing with long wood screws, countersunk holes, and finished off with plugs where needed. I have wasted so much time wrestling with this hardware. The counterbored holes to make it work have to be so perfect otherwise everything just binds up. I'm sorry, but just not worth the money.

The package had already been opened when we received them, thus the contractor was concerned about them and decided not to use them
