I replaced the handrail brackets going down the stairwell downstairs. The original brackets that came with the house were old and not very secure and even a few of them broke off. I got this multi pack so I could add more brackets on each rail. (They came originally with 3 brackets each). Now each side has 6 brackets and the railings are extremely secure now and it looks even nicer since all the brackets are chrome finish. Even though there are 12 steps in the stairwell, it is now extremely secure and fairly flashy looking.

The product is 100% perfect. I wasn't paying attention when I bought Round wood dowels, but I can flatten a section of the dowel to get the screws in secure. Just more work for myself. The bracket is beautifully made. Construction is very strong.

They look great and are reasonably sturdy, especially for the price. We used 18 of them. HOWEVER:!!!!!The parts were not deburred properly prior to spot welding and there can be razor-sharp metal burrs present, particularly on the bracket that the rail rests on. A nasty surprise for someone running their hands along the rail. I went through and removed them all before installing, but they are a real danger.!!About half of them were not square to 90° and I had to rig up a quick little fixture to check and straighten them. Note that some of the spot welds will not hold up to being bent into alignment, so you have to take some care in how you apply leverage.!!The wall bracket covers will need to be glued in place. I used two pea-sized globs of adhesive silicone on the wall bracket, pushed the covers in place over them, and set little rubber hand clamps on the support rod to anchor them tightly for curing.I can only recommend them to someone prepared to do extra work - if so, they’re a great deal. Otherwise, very real quality and safety issues. I love the final result I got that fit within the budget for the project.

As a bracket they work nicely, only reason I didn't give it a 5 start rating is that the decorative collar doesn't sit well and I needed to use silicone to keep them in place.Otherwise they work well.

Cost less than four hardware store hand rail supports.I highly recommend installing a vertical handrail at the top of the stairs. In the photo I screwed the required handrail to the vertical rail, then wound rope around the joint for a visual, and prevention of possible wood splinters. Top of basement stairs.T
