Will it work with my smart speaker?
Smart speakers are not Z-Wave controllers so you will need a compatible Z-Wave hub to get readings from this device on your speaker.
Smart speaker compatible Z-Wave hubs include:
- HomeSeer
- Compatible with SmartThings
- Hubitat
- Home Assistant (Z-WaveJS)

I bought this as an outdoor thermometer to trigger my outdoor z-wave switches for my heat tape (to prevent ice dams in winter). It’s one of the only temperature sensors I could find with an operating temp range down to near zero degrees Fahrenheit, which our outdoor temps temps can reach here in winter. It came up easily on the SmartThings “add-deviceâ€, but came up as a generic multi-sensor first. But Zooz gives you easy instructions to add and select a different “driver†for the device, which then has it only showing temperature, humidity, and battery. I did notice the battery, which read 100% at room temperature, read only 75% at freezer temp.I did not change any of the default parameters like how often the device wakes up to report, which the instructions state would lower the battery life. But for my application, it reports sufficiently fast. It appears that every time the temperature changes a certain number of degrees, it reports independently of the auto-wake function. So it’s not instantaneous, but the outdoor temperature does not change instantaneous. I put it in my freezer to test, and it took several minutes both for the device to cool to freezer temp, and to report the correct degrees. It reported multiple temps on the way down to 7.1 degrees. Likewise, when I took it back out to room temperature, it took several minutes. The readings were very accurate to other thermometers in the room.Overall, I’m extremely happy with its small size, ease of inclusion in SmartThings, and accuracy. We will see about battery life. It’s supposed to be placed outdoors under an eave, and not in direct sunlight or exposed to frequent water.

I have Zigbee temperature/humidity sensors throughout the house; the one in the garage shop kept disconnecting from a SmartThings hub - even with a Zigbee repeater. I already have Z-Wave repeaters for Ring security so I got this sensor, works great. From SmartThings, I can see temperature and humidity from this (and other) sensors. Alexa shows temperature from this sensor, but won't show the humidity from any sensor. So I need SmartThings even if I don't use Z-wave. I'll need more time to assess battery life. So far, this sensor is working great.

It drained the battery for a bit over a month. Enough, so I cannot return it.The update rate is also terrible - 4 hours !?I tried to changed it from the Home Assistant, but was not updated on the sensor.

I use Home Assistant and wanted to keep track of daughters room temperature as hers seems to be the coolest in the house. Installed this and at first it by default will only report the temperature every 240 minutes. Now that's a horrible default, and It felt useless! You can edit the configuration. It now reports every few min, and works like a champ!!! Absolutely love it! Having it report that often im sure will have a toll on the battery, but its super easy to replace and well Its still at 100 %!

Like every Amazon product, you receive & they want you to rate. Another one that will take weeks to test. But here what I know at 1 day. Smoke detector on sensor fired right up, works ?, temperature sensor read but you have to look at info page, reads about the same as ones it’s replacing, since trying to incorporate all smart home items to phone. But so far it has impressed me, cost is ok for item for info it provides wanted to show information page but I haven’t learned to move pictures from phone to Amazon page. Anyway I’m giving a thumbs up on this and going to purchase 8 more! That’s why only one, 2 because first one didn’t work! Could be me but I even followed instructions, you know. If it doesn’t work read instructions and if that doesn’t work follow them! Well first one didn’t light up pairing led, so I changed battery held start button 10 seconds to reformat, still didn’t work, replacement fired up 1st time paired, and I just checked information is constantly updated.

Using Home Assistant, I couldn't get parameter 5 to update. All the other parameters worked fine. Although I'm sure the issue could be rectified, I didn't feel like spending more time on the issue. The construction of the snap-together plastic case seems liable to break after a while.

Had to remove and replace battery a few times before the sensor woke up, but read as 100% charged when connected to Hubitat. At that point, no further issues. Only thing to note is that you must manually put the device into a program state to update its settings within your hub, or wait until it next wakes up to receive the new instructions. At the most frequent update rates (1/min), the battery depletes in one month, which is very reasonable.

Device works well enough and gives a pretty accurate reading but why, why, why do these companies not include the cheapest mounting bracket? It's literally $2.95 on their website but they can't include it with a $35 sensor? This reminds me of another company that nickels and dimes their most loyal customers to death...
