Not surprisingly, checkbook covers are hard, if not impossible, to find these days, and the the flimsy, vinyl one that comes with your personal check refill is ridiculous.I've had this one for about 5-6 weeks now, and it's just what I wanted. Both sides have deep slots to accommodate your checkbook and your register. Though the holder closes flat even with those things in it, there's a band along its length to secure it when, for example, it's in a purse or drawer. This band, BTW, is very secure, well-made, and nicely stitched into the cover.I knew that this was not leather, but it's what I wanted, anyway. I've always had leather checkbook covers and, yes, they fray, get scratched, and stitching comes undone.As far as THIS cover goes. I don't know what synthetic material it's s made of, but it's bulletproof lol.It's sturdy, functional, and here, too, the stitching is great. I chose the leopard print and love it; I've gotten compliments on it, too.One important plus: in an age where almost everything has been trimmed to JUST fit, this cover still provides ample room for the two things that need to be in there. I was surprised at how easily the checkbook and register fit in the slots--secure, but I didn't have to fight to get them in there, and you'll all know what I mean!BTW, this DOES have a penholder. Instead of the usual elastic band, there's a neat slit at the top of the inside spine, where you usually find the elastic ones. One MORE reason to love this!If you're looking for a quality, no-frills checkbook cover, get this. You won't be disappointed. I might just get another one!

Waiting a long time to get a new checkbook cover than the super cheap ones the bank gives you now. This is truly gorgeous and well made everything fits nicely. Now it makes bill paying day a little more enjoyable.
