The Tindår is another amazing and innovative offering from Überleben. I own and use many of their products from the titanium outdoor cookware to their quality fire rods — this product fits in well with the rest of their product line up for fire starting and survival equipment. The burn time is easily comparable to a lighter. The refills are easy to install/use/replace and are inexpensive to keep on hand. These work well in all conditions - I have used these in the wilderness in rainstorms, icy conductions, and wet foggy grossness… the Überleben Tindår has yet to let me down. The grip is good and the function is consistent. The tin storage box these come in are also great. They are a compact, lightweight, and durable way to protect your Tindår and other fire starting accessories. For those who appreciate a lightweight outdoor survival product, or are serious outdoor enthusiasts who count the ounces to stay as a “hyperlight†backpacker - it’s hard to outdo this product.

Tried this over a three day camping venture this weekend, and this is all I used. I started it with a bic lighter prior to leaving just to get an initial char, but used only this and a ferro rod all weekend for about 8-9 fires. It takes a spark immediately, stays lit, and goes out immediately with the bellow over it. Being able to quickly light this and leave it under a tinder pile while building the fire was similar to using fatwood or spartan fire, only without the additional processing. Definitely a win in my book!

I'm willing to pay more for a product that is a great idea and works well. The first Tindar I received didn't arrive with the aluminum collar that slides along the hemp rope. I returned it and a couple of days later, I got another. The photo of the scratched up case is included. So far, not impressed with the product or the company.I took the Tindar, slid the tube back about 5 mm from the end of the rope, frayed the rope very much, held the fray in my striker hand (UNDER the ferro rod), and ran the striker on top of the rod. It took a few tries to get a spark to fall on the frayed rope, but once it did, the rope ignited easily. With practice, ignition got easier. The rope and the collar are genius. When the fire is lit, slide the collar to the end of the rope and you're done, the flame is extinguished. It's so simple and very effective.Maybe you would have thought of using rope as tinder. Maybe even the metal collar to extinguish the flame, but you didn't produce the item and market it. Uberleben did and they deserve credit for it!I would have given the product 5 stars if the order shipped correctly in the first place. Getting a scratched up, partially painted box with the second Tindar was an insult.

Good quality. Wax does not flake off like the cheaper versions. Tube slides well to adjust or snuff out the flame. Very happy with this purchase.

Kit sized. Not large, not too small. After properly fluffing up about 1 inch of the end, I had no problem getting it to take a spark from a very small, necklace sized Wazoo Ferrod rod. It does what it's supposed to.

I was really struggling at first to get this wick to light with my Zunden ferro rod at first. I contacted uberleben customer service and I found out that I wasn't splitting the end nearly enough to get it to catch. I was given great advice and was told to really fray the end on something like a rock to get it really thin. Once to you get it nice and loose, it works like a charm. Got it to light almost immediately.User error and inexperience were the culprit on this one.

Very convenient when you need something that lights easy by magnesium and flint.i keep it in my pocket everywhere I go just in case I need a fire quick because that's what it does well.

Completely overpriced item - Just one slow wick with one stick bellows inside a cheesy, flimsy, half-open tin that was crushed in transit... I found a much better product on Amazon for the same price with slow wick, bellows + ferro rod, striker, waterproof matches, fire plug tinder, and a magnifying burning lens all packed inside a far stronger, more secure tin from Borderland Bushcraft.

Pull the twine out from the metal sleeve, hit it with a spark and it catches right away - instant match. Push the sleeve forward to snuff it out. Very handy when you need to light moe than one thing at camp or when a sparker won't do the job (lighting a lamp as an example). Unlike the description mine came in a metal tin which I prefer as it'll do a better job keeping it dry and no worries about putting it away and not having it completely snuffed out.
