I've used a basket this shape to gather eggs over the years but the earlier versions never had the coated wire that this one has; this upgrade is a super improvement, making it much easier to keep clean and preventing oxidation or rust. It looks great on the counter, but the best part is that the shape, particularly the raised center of the base, gives a cushioning effect protecting the eggs against cracking. Of course it can be used for whatever else looks good in it. It's a great basket.
