Repair:
Remove broken shear pins and cotter pins from the machine. Line up the holes in the auger and the shaft and insert shear pins and secure them with the cotter pins. And get spares.
This is replacement cotter pin 714-04040. It is a standard hardware commonly used on a variety of Craftsman lawn and garden equipment. Depending on the model of your equipment it will be used in different locations to secure two parts together.

I used these 10 cotter pins and 10 shear pins for my Troy-Bilt Storm snowblower, and they fit perfectly. The shear pins were the right size (1/4" x 1-1/2"), and installation was easy. It’s a solid replacement. These pins helped get my snowblower running smoothly again. Great value!

These came on a plastic cliseable storage box making them easy to store anywhere and easy to find again. Hang them on the peg board or keep on the tool box. I will now have plenty of extras and easy to find.

We use these shear pins with our Cub Cadet snowblower. We live in Colorado and our Cub Cadet gets used almost daily during the winter season. Every once in a while, we'll get into the rock or some ice and break a shear pin, so I always keep these in stock.

The pins fit fine. The retainer clips go through the hole and will keep the pins in, but they don't stay centered on the pin and dangle off of the pin on one end. I haven't tried to bend them around to make them proper. Hopefully the pins are made of the right material and don't snap off prematurely. You get what you pay for
