After years of using larger syringe filters because I thought they were the right size for my samples, I did a deeper dive and found out this size, this type, would more than handle my samples. These are perfect for my 10mL samples, perform well, lowered my cost per sample, and compete nicely with the (former) more expensive brand. I have zero complaints with these filters. I suspect other people do what I did…just assume a smaller filter can’t handle the sample load - but I suspect if they did a deeper dive too, they would find this size might work well for them too.

I'm using these to filter river water samples. The large size allows me to filter hundreds of ml of water pretty easily. Will definitely buy again!

Ive tried various filter wheels on Amazon, and these are by far the best value for performance. The filters are very effective at removing small particles and seem to be quite durable. Out of 100 pieces, I didn't have a single blowout or leakage despite pushing an aqueous solution through the hydrophobic membrane (PTFE was used do to high PH of solution). Even on samples with a high amount of particulates, the filter medium was able to hold up without getting punctured due to the backpressure. I wouldn't recommend these if you require 100% sterile filter wheels as they come in bulk packaging, however if its not an issue these are a great value. Just make sure that PTFE is the proper filter membrane material for your application. Im using these with an aqueous solution, however in most cases they're better for organic samples and solvents (non-aqueous samples essentially). Pre-wetting PTFE filters in alcohol before filtration can decrease backpressure when using PTFE filters with an aqueous solution.TL;DR - Great value for performance, strong filter membrane, no leakage; make sure PTFE is the needed filter medium for your application; Not suitable for setups where 100% sterile equipment is essential due to packaging.

These work well for simple use, but would be MUCH more useful if they were autoclavable.

Clogs immediately. You’re luck if you get 1-2 drops of liquid through the other end.

We use these filters for metals prep for our ICPMS. When testing these, they came back with high amounts of zinc.
