We live in a semi-arid climate, so I wasn’t sure something like this would even be necessary. However, it does rain, and it definitely snows in this area. So there can be dampness at times. This is being used in a gun safe. We have several hunting rifles and shotguns, and just using them outside in hunting season weather, or even transporting them in a vehicle can cause some dampness on the guns. This was placed in the gun safe. In spite of our “semi-arid†weather, it was interesting to see the pack begin to turn pink over the course of a few days. The great thing is that it was able to be recharged as per the included instructions: microwave it for three minutes. Quality hunting pieces are expensive; corrosion is bad. This was listed at only $8 at the time of this review—cheap insurance!

Good desiccant pack. Love that I'm able to recharge it. Used to have the disposable ones and they're not cost effective like these.

I keep a safe dry with these. I accidentally microwaved one upside-down against the instructions and "melted" the color-changing dye, so I replaced it. It lasted a few months before it needed to be recharged, and it's easy to do. Much better than the paper and plastic packets.

This little guy has been really good at doing what it claimed it would do. I watched it slowly turn pink as it absorbed moisture, but I was pleasantly surprised that drying it and getting it back to blue was exactly as advertised: three minutes in the microwave. I’ve been using it for several months in various locations to see how it does, and it has done just fine in each one. With the color coded strip on the front, it’s easy to tell if your box of papers or drawer or whatever has moisture. This is a neat little thing that I will keep around.

I use an in-home UV light sanitizer to keep my water flosser safe to use. I air dry the water flosser before exposing the parts to the UV light, but sometimes a little moisture is left behind. I use this desiccant pack to handle any excess humidity in my UV light chamber between sessions. I know that the desiccant works because I have seen the blue square turn pink when it had too much moisture to deal with. This packet is a good size, is well made and seems to work perfectly.

The lockers at work are up and back to back with the refrigerated and frozen food storage areas and are chronically damp. It ok in summer because work tens to keep items abuse 87F but in autumn and winter it unbearable and causes books and paper items I put in my locker to absorb the moisture and well swell up and become ruined. I keep this in my work bag I toss in my locker and its doing the trick even if its no quite what its designed for. It been several weeks and I still have not had to recharge this in the microwave and the directions state, but its still absorbing enough of the ambient moisture so that paper things are holding up nicely. I have not had to reprint my ICOE info, the books I read during breaks or even the paper money in my emergency work wallet. So I suggest this is working at what I needed it to do and operating as described in the listing.Give it a try.

I'm using this in my safe, and after a month or so things still feel and smell dry , with the indicator remaining blue. While I haven't absorbed enough moisture yet to need to refresh it, the directions indicate that doing so should be just a quick three minutes in the microwave.Overall, if you are looking to keep a small to medium sized area dry, this descant pack should do the trick, while being nicely compact and easy and fast to recharge. Well worth considering.

I have a boat with a lot of storage cubbies. I place one of these in each to protect the stuff inside the box. Love that you can recharge it very quickly. It even has an indicator to let you know that the bag is saturated and needs to be recharged.
