Of the 5 encoder/decoder pairs I ordered only one functioned at all. Even then it functioned improperly. All of the HT12Es I received were faulty in some way with 4 drawing 40+ mA with no load (exceeded the limit I set on my power supply). That's 50X their maximum rated operating current of 800uA!! The one HT12E which was partially functional drew an appropriate 200uA with no load and no data input. However it appeared to have an internal short on pin 10 (when connected to ground with no load current would spike to 40+ mA). When paired with an HT12D the data in/out pins were improperly mapped with pin 13 being grounded on the HT12E causing a state change on both pin 13 and 11 on the HT12D.

I'm using them with the cheap 433MHz RF links and they work great. Four outputs over the single RF link.

1. No data sheet given + Misleading information ( headline says 20 DIP but picture and item has only 18 DIP) = hours wasted.2. Troubleshooting with wired E-D connection - so far 12 pairs out of 15 didnt work- enough to return them and not waste time. Wish they will pay for the wasted time. Unsure how they got one great rating !BEWARE

No signal on the output pin of the encoder chips showing up on the oscilloscope.

I have bought several batches of these and have had nothing but headaches! Some seem to work okay at first then go intermittant, some don't even do the basic functions at all. I am buying genuine Holtek from now on, just a wee bit more in cost but hopefully they perform like the datasheet described.
