I have had experience with lathes in my woodworking past.I immediately unboxed and set up this lathe to make sure I could identify issues before warranty time ran out.Certain metal surfaces were treated with grease. I welcomed this protective detail and it took just a few minutes to wipe it down.The construction of the tool appears to be very good quality.All lock downs provided a solid feel as I mounted a block to test operation. I mounted a rough pine block 2 x 2 x 10 and quickly turned it round.I was able to stall the motor. I believe this more a matter of me learning the capabilities of the lathe, adjustments to tool rest and positioning of the tool rather than pointing to a weakness of the lathe.The ability to adjust rpm and torque is a huge advantage.I’m just getting started with this particular device but I would recommend this lathe for beginners particularly due to the price versus tool quality.

It’s kind of in the Goldilocks zone, big enough and powerful enough to turn a good sized bowl but not a space hogging monster. I can bog it down a bit but not stop it. The lowest belt configuration seems quite adequate for almost every operation. The variable speed gives me all the range I need without having to change belt location. I like that it’s Mt 2 and 1†8 TPI spindle/tail stock which gives you the best selection of accessories so no need to fiddle with adaptors. It looks good and seems well made. I don’t think you can beat the size, power and features at this price. I mounted it on the Wen lathe stand and it’s unshakable, rock solid. A longer bed than 18†would give more room to swing a bowl gouge past the tail stock for hollowing out a deep bowl but you can easily slide the tail stock off if you need to. All in a pretty darn good tool for the money.

No me agrado que con tan poco uso tuviera este problema ,un desperfecto de fabrica en el boar de subir y bajar la velocidad ,se quedó pegado en alta, y no hallo como resolver pues es un peligro trabajar.
