These seem to be popular now, and their prices reflect it. Settled on this as one of the lower tier options available. It is a really long chain and I made some adjustments to shorten it. I simply moved the handles on each “cup†up evenly on the chain so that I used all the cups. It also put less distance between the “cups†so the splash out is less. Leaving the remaining chain hang into each “cup†also helped direct the flow and reduce getting splashed walking by it or standing under the porch roof. I keep saying “cup†because I thought they had bottoms in them with a small hole for complete drainage to prevent corrosion, but they do not. They are not cups. I thought the holed design on the sides let the water out, but it can’t hold any water. This makes them very flimsy….but easily adjustable. The chain at the top has only a hook, so in order for it to hang directly under the mouth of the gutter opening, I had to pull the chain up and screw it tight. Buying the downspout adapter could help as most hang from more than 1 point. This is super lightweight and should sway in the breeze. The little bell on the bottom has a disappointing click instead of a ring. Comes fully assembled at over 10 feet.

This Rain Chain is very beautiful. Most similar RCs are shorter and cost double so I'd expected this one to be somewhat flimsy for the price but the cups are decent thickness and the bell is weighty and has a nice sounding chime. I needed a longer RC than the usual 8.5 feet and took a chance solely on the basis of the extended length. I'm glad I did. The top of the RC has a hook rather than the V-shaped most RCs have to fit into downspout hole but I'm attaching this to a half-round gutter adapter so that won't be a problem since I'll be bending the hook closed in order to slide the adapter's crossbar to secure it to the short/narrow funnel that drops from the gutter hole to reduce the swirl and focus the water more directly onto the chain. I may end up replacing the 'chain' with a more substantial one since that appears to be more wire-like than chainlink but that is easy and cheap to do since most hardware stores have huge spools of the stuff on hand at low cost. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. The ten bucks off coupon applied at checkout was a bonus.

This rain chain looks nice, but is very flimsy. It was supposed to be 12', but is only 10'. I should have returned it then, but decided to make do with the shorter length. Now, with winter approaching, the first time we had freezing temperatures, the entire chain self destructed into 10 separate pieces under the weight of the ice. A total waste of money!!
