Product is perfect, can be a little tricky to set the trigger but it has to be for sensitivity. My suggestion is you have a lot of squirrels in the area, stake it down in case you catch one. I am ordering another because I have no clue where mine is now. Sorry squirrel ðŸ¿ï¸

Purchased this to try to catch a pesky robin that has been messing our doors and windows. It takes at least 3 limbs (either 2 people or 1 person using their knee or foot in addition to both hands) to set this trap. The spring, metal, and net seem to be good quality. The trigger mechanism, on the other hand, is absolute junk. It comes loose and snaps my hand almost as often as it actually sets. The instructions are poorly written so it possible that an engineer can make this work. I am not an engineer. The bait is held to the trigger mechanism by a safety pin! In trying to secure a piece of bread as bait, the safety pin pulls through the bread. All-in-all, a waste of money.

I’ve already caught a couple of feathered escape artists who thought they could outsmart me—spoiler: they couldn’t.However, let’s talk about the setup. Calling it “finicky†is putting it politely. It took way more effort than I’d like to admit to get it ready, and at times I felt like I was solving a puzzle I didn’t sign up for. Once it’s assembled, it’s sturdy and effective, but getting there was a journey.The trigger mechanism also feels like it could use some fine-tuning—it occasionally needs a little nudge to work perfectly. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely room for improvement.All in all, this trap does the job once you wrestle it into place. If you’ve got some patience and a little grit, it’s a solid tool for bird-wrangling. Four stars from me—effective, but not exactly plug-and-play.

The metal frame is bare ready to rust metal with no coating. The bamboo trip trigger was moldy. The string to the bamboo trigger was too short and I had to change it out. Does it work? It got me several times while setting it - but so far the sparrows have avoided it and the bait I'm using.

You have to be a little bit creative with this on setting it.. But once you can get it tweaked it works great.I caught 2 birds within the first 2 days and about 2 more over the next week. I have never had a false trigger. I place a small piece of bark under the trigger's 3 strings (if you buy it you will know what I am talking about) and I place a mound of bird seed on the bark. Of course placement is huge.. I place it on the bottom of an active bird feeder where the ground gets alot of activity.

After first use and exposure to moisture (rain, sprinklers, etc) the frame turns into a rust bucket...leaving rust marks on the ground if placed on cement/wood/etc...worse, you can't set this trap without grabbing the frame to do it - so you will have rust all over your hands and anything else that touches the frame.... For something that's supposed to be exposed to the elements, it's a very poor product for anyone planning to use this in moist environments more than one time (mine rusted completely after 2 day use in the rain).

The trap that is pictured is not the one I received.On the trap I did get the trigger post is too short to reach any of the holes in the piece sticking up so it is impossible to set right out of the package. I used some stuff from around the house to make it at least usable.I have had it set up and baited for 4 or 5 days. It is in an area where I have another trap set up also. The other trap catches birds almost daily while this one has yet to even be set off. It has strings running across the bottom to act as triggers but they seem to be a deterrent. The strings and the big metal piece that the trigger is supposed to fit into are the only differences between my 2 traps. So one of those 2 things is keeping the birds away from the trap. They are baited the same and set in high traffic areas and my other trap has caught 3 birds while this one hasn't even had the birds try to eat the food. I have no idea what's happening but I wouldn't buy it again. If anything changes and it starts catching birds I will update this review.

It got all unwanted trouble makers. Got the first one in less than an hour...even got 2@ the same time! Buy it. It's not hard to set or open! I baited the area for a few days w/o the trap... Set the trap then bingo...gottem.
