Needed a replacement needle for my other awl as I recently broke my straight needle doing something I knew I shouldn't have done. If you have to use force... Something went wrong. Take a breath, think about it and try again.Decided to get a second awl while I was at it. For the money this is a super handy tool. Leather stitching made easy. They even included instructions for a basic lock stitch. Hard to beat at this price. I'm putting this one in the house evacuation/earthquake kit. Thread seems sturdy.

A little hard to thread but works well once ready. Side note it might not be as hard for others I am missing a digit.

Very well made. The needles are quite sturdy. Probably could be used on leather.

Fixed my daughter's backpack strap with it. Did 2 rows of stitches in heavy canvas. I'm confident it will make it through the remainder of the school year. Cheaper than getting her a new backpack for sure. My only complaint is installing the little bobbin cover jams up the bobbin, and wont allow it to feed the thread. I did the repair without the bobbin cover installed.

The sewing awl works just fine, but the thread that comes with the kit is garbage.

Bought to put a stove jack in a tent in order to turn it into a hot tent with a wood stove. Works really slick and made sewing the stove jack very easy.

I went on to YouTube to figure how to use the awl. I drilled small holes in the plastic corner clip (attaches soft top to Jeep back quarter panel) in every other hole punched in from the Lacing Stitching Chisel. I am very pleased with the results.

I got this to repair our trampoline spring tabs/netting, should be straightforward BUT I gave up after several attempts. The needle, despite being secured as tightly as it would allow, kept spinning which caused the thread to pull taught and snap because it exited the groove it has to be in, which effectively undid any progress I had made. The needle would also pull entirely out as well. Very disappointed and couldnt return as I had started it past the return window.

It works just fine but a narrower needle woyld have been appreciated.
