I had to replace the wheels in my snow blower and it’s possible I could have reused the old caps but I didn’t want to be gentle removing them so I smacked them with a hammer and they flew off. The easier way I can find to set these in place is put them in a socket something they will fit the center hub. Set that on the axle and tap it with a hammer. Once it’s partially on you can continue tapping it with a hammer until it sets all the way on to the axle. For the price it was worth just replacing the old ones.
