This is a surprisingly good shade sail for the price. I had previously several larger shade sails to protect our main garden from too much sun and liked them so much that I ordered more to install above the windows on our house. But, I also have some small, pocket container gardens scattered around our yard, and they need protection from the sun, too -- they are all sad & wilted by late morning. So I picked up this smaller 8' X 12' shade and it is working perfectly. There is plenty of sun striking my garden in the morning and later afternoon for growth, but the plants are protected from too much sunlight and heat when the sun is more or less overhead. Sunlight still comes through, so it is not dark under the shade but it is much cooler and the plants are no longer suffering. It is permeable to water, also -- we had some much hoped-for rain last night and the light rain just ran right off, but when it started raining a bit heavier, it passed through the fabric without saturating it. I chose the beige version. The fabric is thick with a sturdy, substantial feel to it, but it is not too heavy. I do have some heavier shade sails, but they are the really large ones, so maybe they need that extra weight to stand up to wear & tear from the elements. The stitching is well done on this shade and the D-rings are reinforced. Since this will just be for temporary use, I didn't buy one of the hardware installation kits for a perfect look. We just used the wires from some old steel fencing to loop and tie around trees and fence rails. The current price of $23.99 does seems like a very good deal compared to some other shades I have looked at.

We had a bad wind storm a few months back that destroyed our existing gazebo canopy. This sail canopy is made of a thick mesh fabric. The corners all have attaching hardware that are stitched in and reinforced. This sail does filter out a lot of the sun's rays, providing ample shade. It is not water proof but does help in instance of rain. If you're looking for a sun sail for your porch, playground, etc. This is a good product and I recommend it.

This is a lovely shade for blocking out some sun on your porch. We used it on our back porch where the sun beams down and it gets unbearable at certain points of the day. This shade allows it to stay much cooler on the porch and blocks the sun so it isn't oppressive. We can now really use our back porch during whatever time of day. This shade is heavy duty,.but not heavy. It's actually quite lightweight, which made it easy to put up. It provides enough shade to have a table and four chairs. We added lights under ours for the evening. During the day, the shade keeps the sun from beating us up, but at night, with the lights under it, it reflects some of the soft string lights back down so we have a nice, cozy space outside after dark as well. The product is also a neutral color. Our outside siding is nearly the same color as the tan shade, so it kind of blends in and just looks like a natural extension of the house. Works great for our needs!!

I already have a triangular sail like this square one that is on it’s second year and still looks like new. This doesn’t come with hardware but they sell turnbuckle kits on Amazon that work great. Get stainless steel and it will never rust.I love the pop of color this adds! Note that the sides are intentionally curved, this allows the sail to be pulled tight with no sagging. The corner hooks are stainless steel and firmly attached to the sail. The curved sides also help with wind, they move a bit but they don’t flap around.The material is opaque (I attached a pic of it held up to the sun and you can barely see the sun shining through it) but has an open weave that allows water through. So you don’t have to worry about water ponding on it which could cause sagging in the middle.I’m not sure about snow load, I take these down in the winter just in case. Best not to risk it.I’ll try and update this with an installed pic when I can.

This shade made our deck much more comfortable during the summer. Before the shade you couldn’t sit on the deck between 11:30 am- 6 pm it was just too hot. The shade was a game changer. We attached it to our deck under the top of our pergolla it was up all summer and even well into the fall and even left it up during a hurricane. Looked the same as the day we put it up! We are super happy with it! We did take it down to preserve it during the snowy winter months but we feelIt will hopefully last for years to come.
