The mini lathe cannot do parting in my experience, at least until now. This has changed everything. Make absolutely sure you have a perfect 90deg angle with the flat of the chuck and you are good to go. I am very impressed with this item!

It produced a nice clean narrow cut into the material I was using. Which was Aluminum and Brass rods 1/2 inch OD.
