These stainless steel bars are tough. I have used one as a hinge pin on a woodworking project and otherwise I actually got them to use as handles for darkroom dodging tools (yes, camera film developing). They are very strong and require some force to bend and shape. Before I take any more to the studio I am going to pre-bed the shapes I want in my shop where I can heat the material with the torch to bend. These are quality sticks.

I recently decided to use this 3mm 304 stainless steel round rod as a backspacer in my latest knife project and it works surprisingly well for this non-critical component of the knife. The rod is highly resistant to corrosion, and after a good polishing, it shines beautifully, adding an industrial yet refined touch to the overall design. The contrast it creates against darker handle materials (like G10 or Micarta) is eye-catching and gives the knife an elegant, minimalistic feel.Although 304 stainless steel isn't the hardest material out there, it's more than strong enough for use as a backspacer. The backspacer adds structural integrity to the knife handle and remains stable even with repeated use. The stainless steel’s corrosion resistance ensures that there will be no rust or degradation, even with exposure to moisture.Working with 304 stainless steel is relatively straightforward, especially for non-cutting components like spacers. The rod can be easily cut, shaped, and polished with basic tools, making it a great choice for custom knife makers looking for a hassle-free material to work with. Shaping the backspacer went smoothly, and there were no issues with the material during assembly. While the 3mm rod works wonderfully for backspacers, it’s important to note that 304 stainless is relatively soft compared to other steel alloys used in knives. However, as a structural element, it's an excellent choice, especially for custom knives where aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance are priorities.

Review of 3mm x 300mm 304 Stainless Steel Round RodsI recently purchased a pack of 24 pieces of 3mm x 300mm 304 Stainless Steel Round Rods, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. Here's a breakdown of my experience:Quality and DurabilityThe rods are made from high-quality 304 stainless steel, which provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability. I’ve used them in various projects, and they hold up exceptionally well, standing the test of time without any signs of rust or wear. The smooth surface finish also adds to their appeal, making them easy to work with and reducing the need for additional sanding or treatment.Precision DimensionsThe dimensions are exactly as advertised (3mm in diameter and 300mm in length), making them perfect for precision-based projects. Whether you're a hobbyist or working on more professional applications, these rods provide the consistency you need, ensuring a clean fit in your assemblies.VersatilityI've found these stainless steel rods incredibly versatile. They are suitable for a range of DIY projects, from crafting and model building to supporting structures in various mechanical applications. The 3mm thickness is ideal for delicate jobs, while the 300mm length offers ample material for customization.Ease of UseFor metalworking hobbies, these rods are user-friendly. I appreciate that they can be cut, drilled, and shaped with standard tools. The smooth finish also prevents snagging when handling the rods, which is a significant plus, especially in detailed projects.Value for MoneyWith 24 pieces in a pack, the price point is excellent. It's hard to find such quality and quantity for DIY materials at a comparable rate. This bulk option saves you time and money, making it easy to tackle multiple projects without running out of materials.ConclusionOverall, the 3mm x 300mm 304 Stainless Steel Round Rods exceeded my expectations in both quality and versatility. Whether you're a professional metalworker or a DIY enthusiast, these rods are a fantastic addition to your toolkit. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to enhance their projects with reliable and durable metal components.

These come neatly attached to a cardboard backing. Each one looks identical and perfectly straight. I haven't used one as a hinge yet, but that's my intention. From what I can see I expect to get years of use.

These stainless steel rods are very good quality. The size indicated on the product page is accurate. I have several crafts where these will come in handy but haven't started any of those projects yet. I will need to use tools to bend these the way I want them to, but I was expecting that since I'm not Superman. I have no concerns that these will be great in my project and I'm happy.

Very happy with this product, the material is very hard and has a nice finish. I used it to make small screw drivers
