I have a couple of batteries hooked up to solar panels and 4 or 5 RV lights for my Chickens and Goat sheds and pens.Given how cheap this was, I'm shocked how well it works. I hooked it up, outside but under cover, to the lights in the chicken run. It turns on every morning at 5:30 and off at around 8 so the chickens have light in the morning, grey and rain here in Seattle.

I needed a simple timer to control the low voltage house number light fixture of my home. The light is powered by the doorbell transformer and was on constant. Setup, install, and programming was a snap. The timer has a useful red light indicating the "on" mode. The only negative is the programming does not allow overlapping programs, i.e, one program for winter hours and one for summer. It does allow on at 2 pm, off at 3 pm, then on at 4pm, etc.9

When trying to setup the device, the MINUTE digit wouldn't display correctly. The Day and hour were correct. I just wasn't able to set a time for example to be 11:15. I am returning the product and have asked to have another one sent to me. I'll update this review when I receive it. One star so far.UPDATE: The replacement arrived the following day (haven't even sent the first one back yet ... good job, Amazon. It works fine. The programming works. It would be nice to be able to set the entire week, for the same ON/OFF schedule rather than repeating it 7 times. Still, a nice little device that does exactly what it is supposed to do. Updated to 4 stars.

i have a total of 3 of these. they work exactly as stated. they are reliable, handle DC or AC and timer is very reliable. does need a 12 volt source to power it. remote switching is what i needed. one was recently struck by lightning and it was blown apart, and it still works, even fragmented.now that is what i call quality. i'm definately keeping these on my remote projects as i found the one above still working with the cover blown off (that is the face) and the componants inside showing damge and it still worked.....tell me how that can be? i don't know, but it is still working

OK. I have used these timers for over 7 years. They are in three different Solar Powered applications that turn lights on at night. Some have worked flawlessly for over 6 years. Others have failed. And lately I have ordered -----and then returned several because they will not turn on from the clock. I have set up a test jig to test. They all work in manual mode, but the last four have not worked in program mode. What gives??? No way to contact the seller so Ijust return and order another hoping that I will finally get one that works. No luck yet. I am hoping someone will contact me that sells these JVR Timers and will test one and then send it to me. Otherwise beginning to lose patients. There is no way I am not setting these up properly. I have used them for 7 years now and will I can understand failures over time, these supposedly new ones being sent to me will not work except in MANUAL MODE.

I have purchased over a dozen units over the past 5 years for work. I've had very few issues and continually buy more when the need arises.I've never had an issue with the current, with the largest application powering a large 50W Motorola radio repeater. My main application is to automatically cut power at the end of the workday to save solar-charged battery power.

I installed this timer on my RV to control some of the exterior 12 volt lights so I dont have to manually turn them on and off every night, and the lights will still turn on for nights I'm not at the rv.I'd say the quality of the product is about on par for chinese products manufactured soley for cost, rather than longevity or quality. Case in point, the device has an internal watch battery, which makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately the plastic housing will obviously be a nightmare to open and probably break the first time I need to replace the battery. There are a thousand ways that this could have been designed so that it lasts, but it isn't.As for functionality so far so good, but I only implemented last week. I don't have high expectations that the device will stand the test of time, I'm certain the components are of the cheapest quality.The device comes with instructions but they are subpar like most chinese products of this sort. They are in broken english, unclear - especailly when it comes to the quirky programming (again because of poor software/systems engineering), and far from complete. At least there was a simple elecrical diagram that made my implementation possible, but if I were doing something different, such as using 12v dc to control an ac circuit I'd be very unlear and worried about cooking things - either cooking the device or worse the fire department coming for a house bbq.Overall, the device works for my dc implementation for today. I'd absolutely prefer an American made product of much higher quality rather than "chinese garbage", but unfortunately these are the only products available for this type of application these days.

Excellent little timer relay switch. It does exactly what I wanted and expected. Couldn't work any better. The timer clock only draws .0022 ma. and the relay switch is good for 10 amps Totally satisfied. Hope it's good quality and durable. Hubert

These work well but the instructions indicate that they will “lock†after 30 seconds of inactivity. The first version of the timer didn’t do this, not sure why they added it, it’s totally unnecessary. Anyway, in the instructions it says to hit “manual†4 times before it comes out of lock mode. Don’t worry, it will unlock, just not with the master button. Use the “C/R†button to unlock and it will be fine. Other than the instructions, it works well and have endured outside for a full year in Canada with zero issues.

After programming it for some reason it will randomly shut off and won’t work after about a week.Manual mode doesn’t operate and stays on when in the off position. Would prefer to return or warranty this item but Amazon won’t let me.
