This is a life saver for constructing my outdoor building. Instead of having to run a tape measure and then worrying about if the 2x4 is centered or not, this is a must have.Also with the varied sized center-to-center is very helpful when going from floor joist, wal studs, to ceiling rafters.This can also be taken apart for easy storage, or just hang it up on your wall.I was a bit hesitant when I first got the unit as it didn't look like it would fit a simple 2x4. Nope I was wrong, worked out VERY well.

Steel rather than aluminum makes it about a pound heavier for 16†centers but it is rugged and rigid with 4 locking screws. Priced similarly to single dimension cast aluminum tools, its 12†to 24†adjustability makes it a bargain

This is very helpful to throw together a frame quickly without having to measure over and over again. But it is very heavy. That is good for its durability but if you’re planning to frame over and over and over again it could be a bit too heavy. But it’s great for my DIY items. I wouldn’t want to be holding this in a ladder above anyone without securing it to something. It could be dangerous.

If you want a framing tool, I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't get this one. It's solid, strong, and accurate. It's adjustable, and thus it covers all of the common dimensions that you would need, as well as any non-common ones you might want. It's half the price of some of the other options out there, and the only downsides I can find is that it's a bit on the heavy side and it lacks that fancy handle that so many others seem to sport. Those might be important if you're a professional framer, but not if you're an occasional framer.Oh, and there are absolutely no instructions included. It's not exactly a complicated tool, but it does take a little bit of time to sus out exactly what goes where, unless you study the images on the product page really closely.

OK, so I feel like I need to preface this with saying that my opinion on this is very biased. This is due to the fact that I love jigs! Anything that makes my job easier by taking away repetitive, mundane, or fiddly parts of a process makes me very happy. This framing tool totally fits that description.One of the first things I noticed out of the box is how heavy duty this unit is. Made from very thick powder coated steel this thing is incredibly robust. The thumb screws fit very well into the drilled holes and screw very tightly into fine threads. Each thumb screw has a well defined knurl which allows your fingers to get a good grip. Plus, the 1 inch centers make the process of spacing studs incredibly easy and straightforward. Whether it be closer to 12 inch spacing for walls or wider for decks and roofing, this thing makes the process a lot easier.The last framing I did was the roof of our chicken coop and I really wish that I had this tool in my arsenal when we did that job. The repeated measuring, marking, and re-marking using various squares could have been at least cut down or eliminated if we had been using this jig.All things considered, I expect to get an absolute ton of use out of this jig going forward and it will make my life so much easier.

I am trying some small projects around the home, my biggest yet is building a small but sturdy storage shed in the backyard. I don't consider myself a great builder but I am trying to learn, and if my shed project fails it's not the end of the world - but I obviously want it to succeed! I am all for anything that saves me time and effort on a project, and this framing tool does just that! I have bad eyesight and measuring is always a pain for me, so having this adjustable, nicely spaced framing tool is a big help. It is solid and made of steel, and I love the fact that it is adjustable and up to 24" which is bigger than many other framing tools. 8 locking bolts are included to keep things in place. I would highly recommend this to any other beginner working on floors, walls, roofs, etc that would require this tool!

This framing tool is very heavy duty. It is made of steel so it is heavy! If you are into DIY projects this is a great too to have. It is priced right as well.

My husband and I built a house together in one summer. This saved us so much time and headache. Worth every Penney. Would be better if it had a handle of sorts to take off the 2x4 after you’ve nailed it down.

This was going to a useless tool or one that was insanely useful, and it turned into insanely useful.I used this for walls at 16oc, then roof trusses at 24oc, and then on a few days I will use it at 12 oc for building a deck.It isn't very heavy. Adjustment in length are pretty easy. Builders who have framed for years were helping me and loved it since it kept the roof trusses perfectly spaced and in place at the top when we were installing them. The trusses then couldn't roll, which made it so much safer and so much easier to then screw a support board in place.
