1/4" (dia.) Double Flute Straight Bit with 1/4" shank, 2-1/2" overall length
From the Manufacturer
Freud's precision ground carbide bits have a grain size smaller than other grades, and titanium is added making them impervious to chemical attack. Promoting safer woodworking is the reason Freud made a commitment to develop anti-kickback router bits. Bits are computer balanced to insure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 RPMs of most routers. Freud's philosophy is woodworkers should expect safety, not pay for it. Cut diameter 1/4-inch, cut length 1-inch, shank diameter 1/4-inch.

Project changed, so haven't used this, but I know the brand and it's always excellent quality stuff.

I know pros that use this brand of bits. For DIY, some would consider these expensive. I use it in my introductory level CNC router, router table and my handheld routers. Sometimes a straight bit works best, especially in soft woods, ply, or MDF. It really works well with a router guide on the router table when working hard woods. There's a lot of information available on how to use routers safely in all wood types. This one is definitely worth the price.

Used bit in pine for dovetail work. Needed the longer shank for the dovetail jig. Clean cuts. Little to no splintering. Went slow. No concern about breaking. Cut 8 corners, did not overheat.

I purchased this for a CNC router. I measure all my endmills prior to using them and this one came in just shy of the stated 1/4." To me this is not an issue because I always enter the real diameter of the endmill into my CAM software. I have never found an endmill that has been exactly to specifications advertised, but I do not purchase $100+ endmills because for what I do, the software corrects for inaccuracies in the diameter. This endmill works great on hardwoods and plywood. I prefer the straight flute type for wood because I do not get any tear-out and this one leaves a nice clean finish. It also works great at cutting HDPE plastic.

I was hesitant given other reviews, but I had no issue cleanly and quickly cutting a long, 7/8" deep slot in red oak, in only 3 passes.
