I received this kit today and have been testing it out on some scrap canvas straps in preparation for installing some of these on my canvas pack.Update: The punch works much better on thick fabric if you invert it so that it is facing up, placing the fabric over it, and striking the fabric with a hammer against the cutting face of the punch. It’ll probably dull it out a lot faster but it produces a nice clean cut, even in thick fabric.Another tip with canvas is to burn the finished product with a lighter to seal any frayed ends.It’s not a professional finish but for less than $10 and an hour of practice, it’ll do the job.

I wish I had tried these before the return window closed. They don't work. They fall apart, are weak, thin, and wimpy. Unusable and a waste of money.

As others said, the punch is useless. I had to hit it so hard it left a fairly deep ring in my cutting board but it doesn’t actually cut the fabric. I gave up on that pretty quick and just folded the fabric and used scissors to cut a small hole. Once I did that, the grommets and crimped were fine. But don’t plan on using the punch.
