Very happy with this. Had to route out the bottom of a door for the glide. Clean cut and durable. Fast cutting. Have only used it on pine. Haven’t used it on hard woods.

These bits were purchased to be used in my cnc router for yard art projects. They came packaged in plastic tubing containers to keep them and you protected, I told you they were sharp. The bits look amazing and work amazing. They do the job over and over again and don’t show any wear. I don’t know how long the will last but for the money I am pleasantly surprised. They do the same job as bits costing twice as much. I will buy more in larger sizes after trying these 1/4†bits.

The bit geometry is as described except for a couple of minor items. In a table in the description, it says this bit has 4 flutes. Apparently, the description counts 2 flutes in the up-cut portion and 2 more flutes in the down-cut portion of the bit because the bit I received has only 2 flutes at any one location. Also, an important piece of information is missing. That missing information is the length of the up-cut portion of the tip. I can’t find it anywhere in the description. On the bit I received, the up-cut tip extends up almost 3/8â€, and the down-cut portion of the bit starts about 5/16†up from the tip. The up-cut and down-cut portions overlap about 1/16â€.In order for this bit to work properly, the depth of cut must be at least slightly more than the length of the up-cut tip. This results in the surface of the material being exposed to the down-cut portion of the bit, resulting in smooth cuts with little or no tearing. I believe this bit is intended primarily for plywood where the surface laminate is thin and delicate. The up-cut portion of the bit clears chips, and the down-cut portion “compresses†the surface lamination and keeps it from tearing. This only works if the depth of cut exceeds the length of the up-cut portion of the bit far enough for the down-cut portion of the bit to engage the surface lamination. If used at a cutting depth less than the length of the up-cut tip, it is essentially an up-cut bit. So, it would not be appropriate to use this bit to make shallow cuts in plywood.I tested this bit with 3/4†Baltic birch plywood. It worked much better when cutting at least 3/8†deep. As I expected, a shallow cut in plywood was acceptable, but not very clean. The photo shows a perpendicular to grain groove with 1/8" cut depth at the top, with 5/16†cut depth at the center, and with 3/8" cut depth at the bottom, all with a single pass. A down-cut spiral bit would clearly be more appropriate for the shallower cuts. The cut must be 3/8†or more in order to fully engage the down-cut portion of the bit. I assume this is because there is really no clear point where the bit changes from up-cut to down-cut, and the influence of the up-cut portion must be completely below the surface of the wood.Bottom line is that this is an acceptable bit for cutting 3/8†deep or more in plywood, and works reasonably well for general cutting. A bit with this configuration will probably not get a lot of use because I do not usually make cuts that deep in a single pass with a 1/4" diameter bit.

I have a number of bits and none of them ever cut as clean and fast as this one. I used it cutting ash and expected it to only last for a few cuts but it's still sharp and looks the same after being used on multiple pieces.

I created a jig for my handheld router and used this bit on old cedar planks. My edge was clean, and the bit didn't seem to show any wear. I cut the circle using several passes cutting deeper and deeper with each pass.
