UP Cut Bit
Up-cut bit leaves a smooth bottom edge but a rough top edge.
The up cut is better at evacuating chips, Ideal for mortise and tenons, grooving, slotting or routing deep blind holes. It performs faster cutting while pulling the chips up.
Down Cut Bit
Down-cut bit leaves a clean top edge but a rough bottom edge.
It is great for cutting shallow dados, rabbets, and visible slots. When cutting dados or grooves with a down cut bit, be sure to slow the feed rate to allow more time for chip removal.
Compression Bit
Compression bit cut both top and bottom cleanly, Its spiral action pulls both sides into the center of the bit where it ejects out of the side.

Bit worked well to route the ports for my front I/O out of Mesquite hard wood. Does not do well trying to free hand but if you take very small bites it's not horrible. Of course I also realize this bit isn't intended for free hand routers.On the other hand if you use a fence it worked just fine but any imperfections in your fence will show in the material due to it's small diameter.Overall, it got the job done ðŸ‘

the speeds and feeds paper that comes with the bit says IPM 70 with 35 ramp for both up and down cut, here on amazon its listed as 36 for down and 54 for up. so following the included sheet I broke a bit, use the spec here vs what comes in the boxif you have the right speeds they seem to work very well, other than that I am happy with the bits!Update to my review, they reached out to reimburse my purchase proactivelyand are taking steps to resolve the inconsistency.Mistakes happen and the fact they put customer 1st in addition to the great value product puts them at the top of my list.

Bought this bit for a quick replacement of one (from a different mfg. not on Amazon) that got broken due to a bad manual edit on the controller. This bit broke almost immediately in an adaptive clearing op, speeds and feeds were per the included sheet. This same job has been successfully run multiple times with no issues using a different manufacturer's bit with essentially the same specs of 1/4" Shank, 1/8" Dia, 2 Flutes, 1" Cutting Height.

At this price level I haven't been able to find anything that compares to the quality they provide. They are well packaged, hold an edge well and are my first choice when I need to replace a bit. I've got the 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and they've all just been fantastic. I'm a pretty new user in the CNC world and I'm not always dialed in on my speeds and feeds and I've found these to be very forgiving for me. Highly recommend!
