I wanted this to have computer access to the internet from a moving vehicle. Between a cell phone's hot spot and this inverter, I was able to achieve that and get online while traveling where I had no building, power or internet per se.

There is nothing worse than being on the road and needing to fire off a quote or a report but knowing your laptop doesn't have enough charge. You don't know where the nearest Panera/Starbucks is, and you're not sure if the Whataburger or the McDonald's will have outlets, or if the tables with outlets will be occupied. You may even be in an area where whipping out your laptop is a security risk.Worry no more. Plug in your laptop in your car and work to your heart's content. Then, log off, unplug and get going. You can even charge your laptop while driving and have space on there to charge TWO phones! One advisory note, depending on the type of car you have it may be a good idea to make sure this thing is unplugged when you get out of the car. My 2019 Ford Escape still charges phones and stuff when the car is off, so if I accidentally leave this thing plugged in on a hot day I'll get in and the fan is running full blast to cool it down. I do not know if the couple of times this has happened would damage it, but the fan seems to work great and it cools down after a few minutes once I unplug. It isn't a hazard, just I think it will prolong the life of the unit if you remember to unplug it when getting out of the car, unless your car doesn't supply power when off. Truthfully I think it's a design flaw of the car that leaving a charger plugged in causes there to be continued power draw from the battery, as that down the road could cause the battery to drain much faster. Thankfully that's a company car.In any case, I'd absolutely but this again and I'd recommend it to anyone who has a need to be able to charge something like a laptop while on the road.

*This review has been rewritten. I got a bad inverter the first round.I've since gotten it replaced thanks to the seller, almost completely unprovoked.(Okay, he saw a previous bad review of me panning the unit for premature failure. Still, largely unprovoked.)It's going into my solar power system to provide light duty switched power.I have to commend the customer service provided by Badpas. As for the inverter itself, it's a good unit. Provides solid 5V USB output, and a good 115v soft-started main output. The cooling fan is thermally bonded, and only runs up as much as it needs to, giving a quiet experience compared to other units I've used. The 115v output LVC's at 10.0v. This is lower than most inverters that I have used, and combined with the quiet fan makes the unit one I like to grab when I need an inverter. The USB output does not LVC. Be mindful when using it heavily on a battery or from your car when it's not running. It provides great efficiency across the loads that I've tested it with, both in USB and 115v modes. Its idle draw is so low my solar controller doesn't even recognize it.Here's a list of things that I would recommend you power with it.Laptops, game systems, soldering irons, small computers, cell phones, tablets, clocks*, light duty tools with electronic speed controls, most battery chargers, TVs that don't exceed about 1A on the power draw label**.*Older model clocks, both digital and analog, often use the AC power line as their timebase. These clocks can be easily identified by the fat line cord running directly into the back of the case, with no "bricks" at the wall or in the cord. They will not run as accurately on any inverter.**Older CRT TVs have a degaussing system in them that operates when you power it up cold. These might trigger the unit's overload.Using any of the following will likely end in frustration, failure, and possible damage to your device or the inverter. I don't recommend them:Large transformers, pure inductive loads, large motors, suspicious motorized projects that you built yourself and don't have PFC capacitors, any tool or charger that says "Not For Use With Inverters", heat guns, any product that draws more than 150w.

I've had this product for a few years now and it still works like new. I use it to run my battery charger for my cordless tools. The USB ports are nice for additional phone charging.Pros: nice compact design, stays cool even when in use for extended durations, well built, has additional USB ports for charging other items simultaneously.CONS: I wish the 12v cord was just a little bit longer. Like a 3' cord would be enough to set it in my arm rest, dash, passenger seat or on my floor board.

When I pulled this little gem out of the box, I was surprised at how compact it was. I plugged it in and was surprised by how quiet it was. I used it to power 18 watts worth of Christmas lights so I was nowhere near it's maximum rating. It worked great for about 2 days, then I was surprised that it stopped working. I moved it to my wife's vehicle and it still didn't work. I tried some 12v chargers in both vehicles and they didn't work either. Hmmmm. Long story short, this little gem has no fuse so when it failed, it blew out the fuse in my vehicle. Then it blew out the fuse in my wife's vehicle when it moved it over there to test it.Needless to say, it's going back to Amazon and I'm going to look for one that has an external fuse. Too bad, it was tiny, very quiet and should have worked if the manufacturer (Made in China on the box), hadn't skimped on safety.

Ya no más a estar apurada en un viaje porque se le fuera a acabar la baterÃa a mi laptop. Me encanta, se conecta fácil, conecta varias cosas al mismo tiempo, todo increÃble. Lo amo.

I own a film production company and I need reliability. So when I had a gig 9 hours away and then the next day another 9 hours away, I needed a device to charge my camera batteries, which are massive v mount batteries for a cinema camera. This worked and not only worked but charged them super fast while driving back so I didn't even have to plug them in when I got home for the 2 hours sleep I got. In a pandemic time too, literally nothing open on the way back; I felt a gentle feeling of reliability with this device as it did exactly what it was supposed to.I used the wall plug in most and the two usb ports work well too. I wouldn't have all of them plugged in at one time though as thats a lot for anything to handle. I wish the cable was a bit larger stemming from the cigarette lighter, as it hangs a bit. I have an older car so this worked perfectly for charging multiple things on the go.
