Hatchet head comes with a hammered finish. The blade edge is polished to a mirror shine but is NOT sharp. It did come with a nice size stone to sharpen the blade with. After spending about an hour sharpening with the provided stone I was able to get it sharp enough to shave with. Then I split a good sized pile of red oak. The blade was still sharp enough to cut through a piece of paper all the way through in slices. I’d say it’s really good, hard metal and will hold its edge for a long time. I’m happy with purchase. If you want a hatchet for splitting all your wood… get a bigger axe. But if you just want something for camping or for kindling this is for you.

Should be four times the price. Beautiful tool. Well made. Real craftsmanship here. Incredible value. Will be appreciated for a lifetime.Be aware that this thing is super sharp. Or like a typical axe. It is like a knife. Be careful!!!!

Very nice hatchet. I would except something like this to cost a bit more. Did come kinda sharp and worked for what I needed at the moment. But it does need to be sharpened. Comes with 4 circular wedges for new handles, don't throw away. Sharpening stone is decent. Leather head will do but would benefit from being a bit thicker. Overall, I love it and would recommend to anyone. Only for stars due to the hatchet not being sharp enough and no sharpening instructions.

Was a little hesitant because of the price, but wow, this thing is gorgeous. Handle is smooth and polished, with a nice shine to it. Solid weight, great balance—just holding it feels good.The leather sheath is also top-notch—great quality, well-made, and adds a premium touch.I got to split some firewood. Oh man, it’s really sharp! Slices through wood like butter, no struggle at all. Super satisfying to use.Can’t wait to take it camping this summer. Definitely a great buy!

It is a solid axe with the right weight. The quality looks good. The sheath makes it handy to carry for outdoor use. It has to be sharpened before the first use.

I haven't used it yet but there are a few things I feel are worth noting. 1) The axe cover doesn't seem to be leather and seems cheaply made ( so I plan on making one). 2) The blade edge is quite dull so will need sharpening. 3) Where steel meets handle - also where you would grab hold of to choke up there is a very sharp area of steel that if a person was unaware or careless could be scraped pretty bad - this same area however I fee can be put to good use for striking a fire steel. All in all I really do like the axe. Handle is nice and seems well made with head well seated. I am going to sand handle a little finer though then recoat handle with boiled linseed oil. Hope that helps someone.
