Used to descale tankless water heaters and it worked great. There is no on off switch or float -just plug it in and it runs, but that is what I needed. Comes with a threaded hose fitting, too.

Pump works fine. It's a low-end pump, all plastic so don't expect too much ruggedness.

This 1/2 hp pump really moves some water. If placed on the bottom of a tank, as instructed, it creates so much suction that it is difficult to move it. Once the suction is broken, simple as tilting the pump, the volume doubles. I really do not understand this design. It say not to suspend the pump, but that is when it moves the most water and runs the quietest. When it is flat on the floor it sounds like it is over working. I have had issues with it not starting when I first place it in the water so I would have no confidence in it in a flooding situation. I just use it for transferring water from tank to tank so it is fine for me,

As sump pumps for infrequent use goes, this is possibly the worst choice you can make in my opinion. I've used it twice, both times, it takes close to forever to begin pumping. If you loose suction for any reason, IE; relocating the pump, you have to start over. Granted, I've used it not as I intended, but well within normal expectations of a sump pump. My previous no name pump was 20+ years old and used almost weekly for pond water changes. Parts on it finally rusted to the point of breaking, hence this purchase. Now wishing I'd bought from a big box rather than amazon. Then I possibly would have had recourse. Unfortunately, we as a nation wanted cheaper, so now we don't make anything and have become a dumping ground for china. It got 5 stars for easy of use simply because even a cave man could do it! Put it in the water, plug it in.
