I had a unit that served for several years till one of the arms broke. I went back to the place where I got it to grab a replacement unit but they didn't carry them anymore. So, off to Amazon and found this one. Definitely seems more solid construction than the one it replaced and had good reviews. The box it arrived in said 'aluminum can crush' but it seemed way too heavy to be aluminum. Pulled out some small magnets I have and they stuck to everything so it's definitely steel. The box comes with everything you might need such as screws and dry wall anchors. I would not trust dry wall anchors, my last can crusher pulled out of the wall with the screws supplied with the can crusher even though I went into a stud (how far? Good question, no idea). Replaced those screws with much longer deck screws and did not have a repeat problem. Would definitely recommend locating your studs and going into them with alternate screws.

Our city stopped Recyling due to cost...shame. BUT---that doesn't mean I have to stop. Product works as designed.

I recently started to drink some juice in a can and crushing them by hand while I can do...it's not wise since a minor slip can cause a joint injury. So I got this can crusher. It's well weighted and a good design, but has some flaws and a few corners cut. First, you get the can crusher, packet of screws, and a pair of gloves that fit my M/L hands well. I have a 16.6oz can that's a bit longer than your typical soda cans. The handle of the crusher is just a hollow rubber hose and I believe thinner bolt inside. It would have been a better design if they included a larger diameter handle with the same width so it's a better solid feel. The linkage is connected to the top of the crusher and as you pull down on the handle, the top crushing part slides down the metal bracket housing...so it's a friction slide that I can see wear down and chew through the paint. The bottom of the crusher has a cushion adhesive and after 8 can crushes, you can already see the damage to the bottom. The paint hasn't worn through, but you can see the cushion is already cut and torn away. The bottom grip is not good enough and 50% of the time, the bottom of the can would want to kick out and you can see that by the damage of the bottom cushion piece. They need a different material that's more resilient than 8 can crushes. I'm satisfied with how compress the crushed can are... I wish the design was a bit better. I mounted the can crusher to my adjustable garage shelving and I used my own bolt and nuts since I had to install the nut on the back side of the crusher to affix it to the garage shelving rails.

This is a well make, heavy duty can crusher. It comes with everything you need to mount it and a pair of gloves. I like the bottle opener on the bottome as well as the pad in the bottom that helps hold the cans in place.
