I purchased this in particular for just one hole I needed to drill. I felt since I was doing the installation of the sump pump on my own, I had a few extra bucks to invest in the tools that i needed to make the job easier. One being this drill bit and another a PVC cutting tool. First impression of this bit, i felt that this was a great value. MUCH better than expected for this price. Very heavy duty, so much heftier than I imagined. There is some assembly required but it is obvious what you need to do and super easy to do it. You need to screw the shank on to the hole saw bit and attach the small masonry bit to that. I think it even included a tool to do this. Also included some dust bags which was very thoughtful but i did not use. It was a mess so I will give them a try next time, but that was not my only mistake using this bit. As stated, there is a smaller "pilot" bit that is part of this setup. I failed to remove this bit once i got the hole started. I felt the process was going much slower and harder than it should. I thought that the hole saw bit was junk. I finally realized that there was ZERO need to have to drill this hole using TWO bits. I stopped, waited for the bit to cool, removed the pilot bit and this drill was amazing. Through 10" block, cement and stucco in a minute, if that. Zero chipping and very little pressure used. There was a TON OF DUST! Be ready for that. Cover the area, use the included dust bag and remove the pilot screw as soon as the hole saw bit penetrates. I hate that i only had one hole to drill but it did the job perfectly and I am happy with the purchase.

This hole saw far exceeded my expectations! Some reviews state this would not cut through a concrete block or otherwise did not work well. Let me tell you, this hole saw cut through a cinder block like butter! I was unlucky enough to have my intended hole to be directly in the path of a web in the concrete block. In addition, my application required that I cut at a 10 degree down and 10 degree to the side, and this cut through like butter! Yes, I had a hard core Harbor Freight Rotary hammer drill, but you would be nuts thinking you could drill through a concrete block wall wit a battery powered drill!

This bit will very easily bore through concrete. It is strong and paired with a rotary drill it will easily make light work of any job. Great bit and well under priced from what a big box would want.

This is a very heavy-duty drill bit for drilling into concrete or other masonry surfaces. The package comes with the drill bit and shank to drill smoothly with a good drill.

So I know they were trying to be precise, but it’s a 3-3/4†bit for everyone else, and that is what is laser-etched on the bit anyways (see pic). I’m not sure what they were trying to market towards.Know what the hole is for: for example, 3†PVC is actually 3-1/2†OD, and with an extra 1/8†around for movement and caulking, you’re at this bit perfectly. The bit (when tested wet) cut perfectly, and had no problems with the drill used (an SDS-Max unit with an SDS-Plus adapter).I didn’t try the dust catchers, since I cut wet anyways and make a mess regardless.

Our big box store doesn’t carry larger size Hole saws. Previously I had to drill using a drill bit around a circle to make a larger hole size…We have a tough project ahead, that requires drilling through 12†of brick & concrete. After inspecting this kit, it looks very similar to other concrete hole saws and will update once we complete a heat recovery project.

Very good quality and strongly built. Perfect for drilling through concrete and block walls. Works very well for drilling the necessary hole for installing mini split air conditioners.
